no spark
« on: December 24, 2013, 03:46:58 PM »
I have a 1995ish  4 liter engine in my older 1987  YJ. It had no spark so  I put on a new coil, new crankcase sensor ,new cap, rotor and wires.   It,s real strange after each new part I think it,s fixed as it starts but eventually it,s the same......  no spark.   My son says it has no ground into the coil but there is positive power  [at the 2 prong connector going into the coil]    Anyone have any ideas before I bite the bullet and take it in??????  Sounds like a bad connection or loose wire maybe   but where???????

You mean CPS, the sensor on the bell housing? Crankshaft position sensor? If not I would do this first, then check the pickup in the bottom om the distributor.

think I may have found the problem,I looked at the ecm under the hood on the drivers side inner fender.  It was full of mud and I cleaned the terminals etc and it fired up.  Not sure if this is the final cure or not I should know in the next few days
