Newbie Jeeper
« on: May 01, 2014, 01:43:51 PM »
Hi everyone.

New to the forum, I am hoping to get out to the mountains again. I grew up offroading (in fact you've probably seen my vids on youtube). Bought myself a 2000 Jeep XJ and have a LOT of plans for building it up over the next little while. I haven't been out in a long time, and it will be my first time offroading behind the wheel. Hoping to get out lots this year and get some real experience, maybe teach my girlfriend a thing or two as well.

I would like to start getting out more to meetings, show n shines, and to the mountains. I also am incredibly terrible at all things mechanical and will most likely ask lots of dumb questions.

Cheers!
Josh.

Welcome, good to see another XJ. If you are looking for bumpers etc talk to Dave and Eric at Broken Axle, great guys to deal with.

I am, not finding good deals tho, thanks for the info. Working on the more crucial parts at the moment like sagging springs, the rear hitch and front tow hooks (for towing me out of something i shouldn't have put my tires in) and fixing the rusty parts.

Just Empty Every Pocket.... fair enough i guess haha

Nice! yet again another XJ owner, with the same tires I once had. Loved em. Worked great for me at 8psi. Front tow hooks are a fairly simple addition if you head over to any of the 4x4 shops here in Calgary. You can install em yourself :) Of course again any questions feel free to ask away. Theres a few XJ guys that have posted up that know a thing or 2... Except about frames....
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Thanks! Good to know, One thing I'm noticing is that I hate rust, A LOT.. turns a 4 hour  job into a 14 hour job.. but lift is finally all done.. now gotta deal with lowering the T-case and replace the leaf spring shackles... always another project.. anytime I finish one I have to start another :) Love it!
