flat towing a tj

I have a 2001 TJ with a manual tranny. I am thinking of flat towing it behind my motorhome. How do I set it up? I have heard that I should put the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in gear with the steering wheel unlocked. Would that be right?

Try Google, that's what I did to find out how to flat tow my XJ.

, ARB snorkel, lockers and a bunch of other stuff
06 TJ, 2" lift, 31" Goodyear Territory's.

Ever thought about buying an actual trailer?  That would be my preference.  Keep the wear to the trailer tires and not to the jeep tires.

i agree, tires are to expensive and im sure u can get a decent toy hauler for $1500-2000

What is the logic to having the transmission in gear?
Would it be bad to be neutral and neutral for transmission and also transfercase?

That is how i towed my TJ and CJ. If you want, you could remove rear driveshaft to save wear and tear, i didn't.

I went through this last year too. The logic behind leaving the transmission in gear is so the oil pump in the still operates while the jeep is being towed. Keeps the gears/bearings lubed.
