Suspension seats

Been looking for a while for a good deal on some suspension seats, not 100% happy with how the activia seats I have in the YJ fit - found and bought some off Ebay yesterday, not sure how good the quality is but it did chat with a couple guys who bought some down in the states and they seem pretty happy with them so figured for the price it was worth a shot - they are 99 bucks each USD and shipping was around 50 per seat - all in, shipping included, they cost me $295 usd which is about $310 Canadian.  Brand is Garage Pro - assuming a forign copy of mastercraft etc

Thought I would share in case anyone else wants to pick up a set, seem like a good deal.

Brown Santa showed up yesterday !

Quality is much better than I expected.  We'll see how they hold up under use.  Came with hardware and rails but it looks like I can just reuse my stock sliders and brackets anyway after a quick measure.

The docs and instructions refer to them as Bestop seats...interesting. Made in China as I suspected

I also ordered RCI belts from summit which beat the seats here by a week - I have a prosthetic hip and I find that although 5 points look excessive they keep me pain free off road.  Now I have seats I like I can finish my cage.

I'm interested in how well they fit and comfort level.

I'm about 220 and a 38 inch waist and I am surprised how well they fit me. Doesn't feel like as much side bolster as other seats I've had but I suspect with use I will end up sitting a little deeper once they break in a little. Very comfortable trying them in the house anyway, lotsa hip room but secure.
Found reviews on JCWhitney - pretty well everyone finds them comfy - complaints were about fabric and foam wearing out in about a year - can't say if thats been improved till I've used them for a spell

Did you mean fit as in the jeep ?  I'll post how that goes if my son ever naps long enough for me to get them installed lol - missus and I are on alternating shifts to save on daycare so actual jeep work has kinda ground to a halt at this point

I have reclining mastercraft seats in my Xj. I'll never run a stock seat in a jeep again. Lots of bolt in options out there but they all make a big difference. Don't feel so  beat up at the end of the day.

Finally got around to installing these now that the snow has stopped flying out here

Not as perfect a process as I had hoped - they do sit higher than a stock seat to the point that using the sliders (stocker and the new ones provided with the seats are the same dimensions) would be dangerous - at the back position I only have 4" clearance to the roll bar, and with the soundbar in place my head contacts it - I am 5'9" - had my buddy who is 6'2" try the seat and his head was pressed and kinked over into the soft top LOL

They do bolt to both the slider and seat frame patterns, so that is nice, but that said it looks like I will mount them in fixed forward and back position - not the end of the world but using the slider would have been nicer - clearance is acceptable mounted directly to the frames.

The seat itself is very comfy and angle wise everything is good - I guess the bad I can say is that the website reports they fit fine with the sliders but that is BS unless your a shorter height person - I hate to think some poor bugger rolls with those sliders mounted I suspect the result would be tragic.

Because the reviews trash the foam and cover quality I am being very carefull not to drag my fat arse over the bolsters getting in and out - a bit of a pain but doable if I get more life out of them.  I can get mastercraft covers when these ones wear out but we'll make that decision when the time comes - now I just gotta pull em out and paint the lower frames (another anoyance not mentioned on the site) the framed are unpained at the bottom where the mounting tabs were welded on

In the end I got what I paid for...still happy with the purchase for now
