I have a new noise in the front of the jeep. It is related to the fan and or fan belt. I think the fan assembly needs to be replaced. The fan has play forward and back and seems to be the source of the noise. I am sure others have run in to this problem.

2001 TJ/Sahara 4.0L with AC

Recommendations on the best place to get the part at a good price?

Helpful hints on changing the unit?

Thanks for any suggestions.

As far as I know, the dealer is the only place to get a replacement fan clutch for the 2000 and up 4.0L TJ's
Get the 7 blade fan while you're at it.

Good info here with part numbers

fan clutch for sure.

welcome to the club.

does it still have some resistance when you turn it by hand?

I'm on my second in two years. Some have double that in the same time.  Wish I kept my old one tho... would've made a good trail spare.

I agree and it can be real cheap. I used a fan off an old chev FWD that fits my rad perfect $14, a high speed heater fan relay $2 from same car, a thermostat that goes into your rad hose $35 New, and a toggle sw to turn it off in deep water. Wire everything up neatly and get a little extra HP and alot more room under the hood if you have a 4 cyl.

if the fan wobbles back and forth... could this be a water pump bearing that is fried?  i had the same problem in my old cj
