Sooo many options for Lower control arms
« on: July 17, 2014, 12:16:25 PM »
Looking to swap out my front and rear lower control arms. But there are so many available on the market, for many different prices, and options.
fixed, adjustable, grease, non grease, 30 different brands etc.

I have a 97 TJ lifted 3" on 33's.  Looking for better on road ride.
Don't want to break the bank on them either.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
M

Dont use any without currie johnny joints. Once you know that rule, your options are limited to a handfull of suppliers.

Thanks Bill,
Really appreciate that. I'll look for ones specifically with that option.
Any particular recommendations from personal experience that are a good deal ?

Im not sure. Havnt done arms in a long time. Best deal would probably be to get some joints and inserts and build them. Beyond that, savvy, clayton, rokman, and currie all do good lowers.

Uppers vary from shop to shop, and depending on the application, some shops uppers are to short, while others are two long.

I can look at what it cost these days to put a set together if you want while you shop around. See if its worth building them or now.

That would be deadly Bill.
I found the Currie ones online for a set of 8 for $1095 USD. (uppers and lowers)
I'll look into the other ones you mentioned and see what they're looking for pre-built these days.

thanks again for your help.
Mike

Holy crap. Rokman lowers are 299 US on their site, so go close to 400 by the time they are here. Currie lowers from Northridge are 386 a set. Savvy at least has a full aluminum set for the same price as the currie one.

I could build arms for you a bit cheaper, but not much. The price of the joints is nuts. I used to by JJ's for 20$ less than 5 years ago, now they are 56..................

Hows that for inflation.

I have some parts at home that would work to build double adjustable front uppers as well.

Zero surprise about the inflation on these puppies.

Once again, Bill's the man with the plan.  I'll look into grabbing those from Savvy.  Cost for all 8 is decent.

you don't happen to have any stock dash switches laying around do you ?  looking for the fog light switch, rear wiper switch, and the defrost switch.
no worries if not, I could always re-wire them and put in an aftermarket switch. but always worth checking around first.

Ya, I think we can blame the JK crowd for the inflation. Seems the intro of the 4 door and all those big builds in the states has really driven prices up for parts across the board.

Sorry, no switches laying around. Put a wanted up, there's usually a TJ or two being stripped.

Mike I have a set of Clayton at the house if you want to take a look at them.

They are similar then the Curries but a bit more moula... it's juts a preference thing. I just like Clayton's product.

It's been a while gringo! Come by the house...

Billy Bolt On built my arms. It's a sister company of Nine Customs
