need AC work done in an 05 WK hemi
« on: July 29, 2014, 08:42:05 AM »
wifes new jeep has no AC. just blows warm air. pretty sure it has a bad leak somewhere and frankly I have no ambition to tackle AC myself, fix it wrong, spend 200$ just to bring it in to a shop

any shops in the South where I can get a diagnostic done?

starting with calling Canadian tire, tireland etc.

cheers

Pressure it up and see if it even leaks. If it dont leak just get a can of AC stuff and be done with it. If it leaks, take it in.

Compression test should work. Just need to adapt that large schrader on the ac.

In fact, poke the schrader and see if anything comes out. If it has some pressure in the system you know right there its holding.

Thanks bill

It has about 8psi on te low pressure side. We put 4 cans or 134 r in yesterday (I know I'm sorry Trevor!) and it's that low today. Compressor also won't kick on because I believe it has a low pressure switch. Not sure what to do to find a leak .....  In also afraid to test high side with my (Ian's) little Canadian tire pressure test or. It goes to 350psi so it should be ok

just get a can of AC stuff and be done with it.

I see there is more A/C techs on the forum than I thought.   ;)
Little more (crap ton, actually) science behind it than that. Gonna have more problems than you're willing to deal with if you go that route. Johnny already knows this.
if we were smart with our money we wouldn't own Jeeps.
