Ok my buddy got sum 2.5 tonn rockwells and he wants to put them under an old chevy. but he was told that the rear diff needs to spin the oposite way than the chevy. IE the transfercase rear output spins oposite on the duce and a half than other like a chevy, jeep......
If this is true can u modify the chevy trasfercase to spin the other way.
or do u just need the right transfercase from the duce and a half they came from.
Maybe sumone could point me to another web site that would help unless sumone hear knows the answers.
Thanx

oh , am thinking you wandered into Bree's area and forgot about the problem at hand ....  should have warned you   :D

in another attempt try this article which tears into these monsters

http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticles/drivetrain/

it says in the artical you can rotate the axle 180 degee's (flip) or spin the center section 180 degree's (drill extra holes ) for whatever config you want,  the center section has flanges on both sides for driveshaft so it would rotate whatever way you want ...

however,  you can also try the guys on www.eco.ab.ca  the edm club, forum is under jeep parts - some of their members wheel jeeps with +40 inch tires so they might have experience ...

if you get them installed post a pic ... ... or post the "right" answer once your sure ...

Thanx i think that was just the right answers i was looking for, great info in that wright up.

As for pics of the build up. Its my buddy back in Nova scotia i was just visiting there the last couple of weeks. It will be a slow build probly wont be done for a few years, but he has most of main parts needed 454 moter, 60ish frame, 80s style chevy cab, 2.5 rockwell diffs, tranny, and a gear driven transfercase, Hes planin to run big 52inch or so directional tires from a manoure spreader they are about 3feet wide. As u can tell it will be for mudbogg comps. Should be a cool truck. But lots of work to get er done.

my last post,  glad something above was useful ...

wish I was wheeling today,  but oncall so surfing,  it looks like these axles are also know as M35 's   ,   a US company  ( http://www.usa6x6.com  ) has a Q/A forum for these axles and wants business bad enough they offer a free tech line
" Call us anytime for FREE Rockwell tech or advise 1-580-351-0600 "

also,  someone posted breakdown photo's on the rear on this site, you might want to click'em and save for future reference as  they might disappear
