New lift installed! (Have a few issues)

So, I finally installed my lift this weekend. Ended up with about 5" out of this 2.5" kit, so I'm expecting it to settle.

Of course, I got excited and forgot to take the before pic and exact measurements.

Anyway, above you see where I'm at. After reading on here, I decided to remove the rear track bar and so far so good. I have noticed a little bump steer when both front tires hit a hard edge at the same time, like an expansion joint when going over a bridge. I do have the track bar mounted in the top hole of the relocation bracket though. Couldn't get the rear brake line off, so I just bent the bracket for now. I have more than enough hose now anyway.

I do have a couple questions for a few issues.

1. Steering wheel is off 1/4 turn. Will there be enough adjustment to fix this? Steering is otherwise great and tracks perfectly. Get an alignment anyway?

2. Transmission pops out of 2nd and 4th gear. The rod seems to be binding somewhere since the transfer case drop. Is there a fix other than bending the rod? When I dropped the TC, I noticed some bumps on the frame. Can I grind these down so the pucks sit closer to the frame? I'll try to grab a pic to show what I'm talking about. I already know a CV DS would eliminate the transfer case drop in the first place...

So, going to get my tires mounted right now. I'll update pics in a bit. Thanks in advance for any tips on the problems.

the only advice that I can give is to definately get an alignment. it helped me a lot.

the alignment will help with the bump steer. Your tranny shifter is contacting the tub, you'll need to make some clearance (big hammer).

Good to hear. Didn't have to use the BFH for the lift, so I knew something was wrong.

The spring eye bolts on the frame brackets though.... those were so siezed we had a 1/2" impact on it for 15 minutes while I pounded on it with a hammer. Eventually, after rust stopped pouring out, they heated up so much the bushing started melting out of the eye. Got all 4 out without a torch in the end! Everything went back together with generous amounts of grease and/or anti-seize.

Oh yeah, a Toyota minitruck guy wanted my old springs. Traded me a set of Rancho shock boots for 'em, haha.

For shifting my lift instructions reccomnended just cutting a bit of the tub out where the shifter moves so it will stay in gear, I never did this on my because it was not necessary but it should work.

As for the steering wheel, no big deal.  When I lifted my YJ, is turned about 1/8th of a turn to the left and my dad's YJ went to the right.  As long as the vehicle to tracks straight I would not worry about it.

The issue with the shift is definitely interference with the tub.  A BFH is always fun

I picked up some 31" TrXus MTs at National's open house. Awesome deal that I could not pass on. Looked into BFG TA/KOs and MTRs as well, but for the money I went with Interco. Solid reviews in the mags and a friend loved them on his diesel Landcruiser. I was hoping for 32s, but this should be just fine.

Next month will be TJ flares and more armor, a winch and that's it till I get my bumpers made or start breaking stuff.

Hmmm.... Pulled off the shift boots today and there is no contact with the tub, it's the lower boot itself that is causing the problem. Going to try opening up or slotting the holes so I can move it so it won't interfere and I should be good!

i did a a 4" lift and i kept poping out of revese, i had to take the boot off and trim the tub, and the boot itself, just used some tin-snips. also i removed my rear swaybar, i also no longer use the front and i do not notice to much body roll,  good luck and have fun.
