I've replaced the cooler lines on the AW4 auto trans in my '96 XJ previously, and they are leaking again (badly), just about a year later. They leak right around the plastic retainer in the side of the trans housing.
I'm hoping to replace these using something much stronger and better than stock. I called Auto Value (just a few blocks from me) and they told me that they could sell me "pipe thread to barb" fittings for rubber lines, that I could retain with just some hose clamps. The other option would be going to someplace like Mopac for some -AN fittings. I really don't know anything about these, and I would expect the fittings and hose to be quite expensive.
Also, I've wondered about getting true hydraulic hose fittings from a place like princess auto, or just getting lines made at Green Line.
I've searched around the net a bit, and on
www.naxja.org. I'm hoping to find someone who has made this same repair locally who can tell me pretty much exactly what they did and where they got the parts.
Thanks for any help.
