Windshield Wipers
« on: April 05, 2007, 11:10:38 AM »
My wipers really suck, I have tried everything from bending the wiper, the wiper arm and new wipers but i can seem to get them to work good.

There really isnt much pressure applied on the windshield by them, for example in my old car my wipers would snap back down if i lifted them. These ones dont! Anyone else have this problem, any solutions, or just something i'll have to keep to living with?

Cheers!

I had this issue with my mazda and what I did is buy those wiper springs you can get.  They fit over the hinge and push the wiper tight against the windsheild.  I thing I got my set at walmart but I used to see them everywhere.

Yeah dude, got the same problem. I was thinking of switching to those reflex blades from crappy tire, but sounds like that spring would work a little better.

They don't make the reflex ones that small.  I looked already.  I was just at Canadian tire though and the springs are 9.99/set and they have one for jeep.  you have to look under Christler in the chart but its there.  :)

The other thing you can try is lubricating the hinge on the wiper arm. Have had several vehicles at our shop that have had that problem.

what are the smallest they make?  I do want to put those on the TJ because I put them on my wife's saturn and they work great.

i think its a 17 inch...  whatever stock jeep is, reflex's shortest is 1 inch longer..  just get the shortest one they make
build 'em, break 'em,
love 'em, leave 'em
same thing

I'll have to give that I try on my next blades.  I think I have a month or so left on the ones I have now.  Unless we get another snow fall.  grrr.

My buddy had a reflex blade on his car that was about inch too long, so we just cut the excess off, and it still worked great.

But for the mean time, I just bent in my arms a little bit so they put more pressure on the blade. Works for now.

Picked up a set of those add a springs at walmart on the weekend. Worked perfect, had to wrestle them on (kept getting caught in the clip that locks the wiper arm on), but after that it was nice to see out my windshield again!

O yeah 10 bucks!
