Toyo open country MT tires
« on: April 13, 2007, 06:16:57 AM »
Well it looks like my order for cooper stt's somehow got messed up.  So I am looking at some toyo mt's amd Mick thompson MTZ.  The Toyo is a very heavy tire, load range E and 71 lbs per tire.  THat will increase my unsprung weight by 80 lbs.  Not to mention extra mass to get rotating.  The Mickey thompson MTZ I know very little about this tire, anyone have any results with this one?  I probably can still get the coopers but the dealer I am buying them from, would lose money on the deal.  What do you guys think?  I am putting theses on a 95 yj with a 4.0 and 4.10's.  Guess I forgot to tell you the size 33X12.5 15

What size are you looking at, 33x12.5x15?  and they are a load range "E"?  Talk to Bnine or Spyder, they have lots of input on the Toyos

Toyos 33 x 15 only comes in 13.5 width, and is load range C.

Load range E is the 16 inch tire, which is 33 x 1150.

Great tires, but pretty pricy. We have them on my 1 ton, and Denise's TJ as well.

On the toyo website they do show a 33X12.5 15.  And it is a load range e.  Anyway on the 13.5 inch wide I have Bestop extended flares do you think they will stick out past these?  How stiff is the sidewall?  How far down do you have to drop the air pressure to get a larger footprint for offroading?  How do you find the increased weight for this tire.  They list out at 71 lbs where most others are around 53 lbs same size tire?  Are you happy with these tires?

Oh, ok. That 33 1250 version must be new.

We set up my freinds rubi with 33 x 1150 16's, load range E's. They flex very well at 12 psi.

On the wifes TJ we have them on beadlocks, running them at 5 psi. Those are very squishy at those pressures.

I mounted her 33 x 1350's on walker evan beadlocks and sent her on a trail run the next day without balancing anything. I still havnt blanced them as they run down the road at 100k vib free.

The most weight I have on my 1ton set is about an ounce to an ounce and a half.

They have incredible winter traction on both snow and ice.

We havnt treid them in the mud yet.

The 1350's will stick out of your flares a bit, but the increased stance and stability is a nice to have as a result.

I would say past 12.5" wide, go with a 10" rim, but there are people running around with a 12.5 on a 7" rim
