MTs on a Stock Carrier
« on: April 18, 2007, 01:12:34 AM »
OK, so I got a 31x10.5 BFG MT on my stock carrier, but the brake light and rubber bumpers are stopping me from slidding it on very far. I doesn't hit the back plate, which is gonna prevent me from putting my bike carrier

Do you guys cut the bumpers down? They are really pushing in on the tire. Suggestions?

Cheers,
Brad

If the tire pushes on the brake light the rear wiper will rub on the back of the light.

Three possible solutions.

1 raise and extend the break light.
2 Find an adaptor that spaces the rim back from the stock carrier.
3 Put the tire on a rim that has more backspacing.

I had the same problem. I found an adaptor that spaced the tire back from the light and mounting plate  2”. Sorry I bought mine used on the website so I can’t tell you were to find one

That’s the one. It works great and made the mount for the CB antenna easier to get at.

I have a 32x11.5 BFG AT on stock rims mounted on the back. All I did was added 5-6 washers between the brake light and mount to raise it up. Works great for me.

That and a little trimming of the rubber pucks.
