Tire Vibes

I am getting bad tire vibes from my 36/12.5/15 bias ply tires.  So bad I went out and bought a second set of radial tires to drive around town in.  I know that it is not an alignment issue because the vibes are gone with the new radials.  I was told that you can put coolant inside the tires and it will act the same as balancing sand and take out most of my vibe problems.  Has anyone else done this or heard of this before?

Coolant kind of eats stuff, I wouldn't try it.

Bias ply get a flat spot in them when they sit over night, it will go away after about 5-10km of highway driving. This can not be helped.

For my 36" Iroks I put BBs inside the tire to act as balancing beads. A weigh scale and BBs cost about $20 at Walmart.

Do a search for balancing beads and BBs.

could it be the steering dampner is on its last gasp ... they take a beating and things tend to shimmy and shake near the end  :roll: ... perhaps the smaller? radial tire just temporarily is within its capacity ... just a thought ...

Hasn't eaten my rad hoses or engine block yet.

Have talked to a few truckers who used it with good results.

Check the "toe-in" with your larger tire.  Could be way out.

I am certain that the front end is o.k. and when I put the radials on the problem went away completely.  I did notice the flat spots, that is why I bought the radials for in town, When I first drove the vehicle after the first night it had sat on the bias ply tires I thought that it was going to shake my teeth out of my head for the first 5 km:shock:

How many bb's did you have to put in your tire to correct the problem?  Won't the bb's beat up the tire bladder?

I've been a tire man for twenty years. Don't use coolant because it damages the liner in the tire. I've seen all kinds of different ideas for balancing tires. BB's golfballs. sand balancing powder and beads. As far as flat spots causing your shake there is nothing you can do to correct the problem short of putting it on stands everynight.
