89 XJ Alternator Relocation

Is there anything special i should know when relocating my alternator in my 89 XJ ?? i'm thinking of taking out the AC and putting the alternator there...good idea? sell premade brackets anywhere? also any good ways to take out AC?

you could always look at one at a junk yard that didn't have AC and it would probably have the right brackets too

on a 88xj... the only diff in the brackets for ac and non ac models is the compressor is replaced by an idler.

On my 90 the brakets are the same.

could i just rip out the whole ac setup? and put the alternator in the stock ac spot?

You'll need to fab some brackets for mounting it and figure out a different belt routing but it is possible.

yah...doesnt seem like to much work just have to do it right and some fab.

anyone think they could help a brother out? someone who's done it to their truck? just so i dont screw anything up..

I'm a brother from another mother  :P haha but ya...i want to pick up a membership if thats what you mean,just havent had time and the jeeps been down for a while
