Haunted 98 Grand Cherokee
« on: November 12, 2007, 09:14:41 AM »
Hopefully someone out there could shed some light on my haunted 1998 Grand Cherokee Laredo.I start it up on cold mornings (it was fine in the summer) and the interior light stays on.As the truck warms up , the interior lights and door locks go on and off numerous times until the truck is fully warmed up. The alarm will constantly go off as the vehicle cools once parked. I suspected the car starter and removed it but no difference.
When parked (as it is warming up) I can sometimes move the steering wheel back and forth a few degrees and get the interior light to go on/off at the same time.
Any help would be appreciated.

i am completely unfamilliar with this vehicle, but kinda had the same problem with my dad's '89 chebby...

his horn was buggered and kept shorting to ground (on) as he turned the wheel... maybeh you have a short somewhere?  :?  but for all of them to be going off at once is absurd-like for a vehicle like that...

no clues... take it in to a jeep mechanic?

Have you tried sacrificing a goat? maybe you have offended the jeep gods. ;)

But on a serious note, I'd have the alarm system checked by the dealer or a qualified alarm system dealer. I heard an ad on CJ92 for Quin security that there supposed to be able to fix your electrical gremlins.

That jeep has a body computer that controls all those functions best to have it checked with a scanner.

my 98 had the same thing my problem was the rear hatch switch the alarm and lights would go off when it was windy out or it got cold out.  the cold shriks the door rubbers and lets the door of hatch switch turn on ... I just unpluged all the door switches the plugged them back in one at a time till I found the bad one :D
