Voters in the two area provincial ridings will have a chance to question the candidates for the upcoming provincial election in the next week.

On Thursday, Feb. 21, the Bragg Creek Long Term Vision will host an all-candidates forum for the Foothills-Rocky View riding, at the Bragg Creek Centre from 7 to 9 p.m.
Candidates that are confirmed to attend are Larry Ashmore of the Alberta Green Party, Herb Coburn of the Alberta Liberal Party, Joseph McMaster of the Wildrose Alliance Party, and Ted Morton of the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta. Alberta NDP candidate Ricardo de Menezes had not confirmed he would attend at press time.

Banff-Cochrane voters will also get a chance to hear from their candidates at a forum on Wednesday, Feb. 27, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Cochrane RancheHouse.

Sponsored by the Cochrane and Area Chamber of Commerce, the forum has confirmed attendance from Dan Cunin of the Greens, Patricia Robertson of the Liberals and Janis Tarchuk of the PC Party, and are hoping to confirm attendance from the other two candidates in the riding later this week.

Both forums are free to attend and open to the public.

23 White Ave, Bragg Creek, AB T0L 0K0

When you come into town via #22 at the 4 way stop. (Go straight through, if coming from Hwy 1 or 8 direction...turn left if coming from 22x direction) this is White Ave. The hall is very close to that 4 way stop.

Could i have my 5 mins of infamy back again?
Man, i blew that chance...lol
i forgot my darn question...oops.
ENFORCEMENT.

But not all is lost as i ran into Ted in the hallway and i spoke to him a little more. i also clarified that the voice he is listening to (AOHVA) has NOT done anything South of Edmonton. He invited me to come see him.
i will.

i do reluctantly agree that any candidate in Alberta is about the WATERSHED and that means the end of motorized recreation.
The worst choice is Liberal
The best is PC as they are not proposing what the Liberals, Wildrose or Green party is absolutely proposing...RECREATION limited to non motor fun with LIMITED mountainbiking.
PC still has a place for motors...for now.
Expect Maclen to get hit hard! My opinion as no actual policy was discussed.
i will VOTE PC.

hrm,  if they blackballed everyone, we might have a lot more people on our side.  or at least fighting for the same thing... and possibly working towards the same goal.

What I dont understand, is that with all the watershed concerns, where is the evidence of damage to watershed as a result of motorized recreation.

Isnt waiporous still testing as clean as it did over 20 years ago.

But, its still ok to clear cut and allow massive erosion and silt migration to flow into the water systems. Bunch of split tongue BS.

Don't worry everyone...we will still be able to access the backcountry by hiking....as long as you are wearing SLIPPERS :o ::) ::)

I thought this was a free democratic country, so why does it now seem like a communist state??????????????
Canadian government( federal and provincial) is becoming a joke....BS firearms laws, limited or no access plans for the backcountry, you get charged for injuring or killing an intruder in your own home....WTH? The United States may not be perfect, but it is sure starting to look good to me! The Blue Ribbon Coaliltion and the NRA are very strong organizations and very influencial to the US government....I wish we had similar groups here but that just would never happen with Canada's Liberal thinking dominated population. >:( >:( >:( >:(

As someone who has voted Liberal the last few elections, I will be changing my vote this year as I agree with many above posters about the overly strict regulations that seem to be popular as of late.  Even though I am just getting started in the 4x4 community I have always felt there is no problem with responsible owners having fun.  The prohibition of any motorized activity and strict controls on mountain bikes even is just too over the top for me, next thing you know we will be restricted to only driving on a paved surface.
