Perhaps this is one of the reasons they are trying to unload Hummer,as they would have the Jeep brand to sell,i hope if they merge some good will come of it in the truck/Jeep end.between the two we could see some killer products (jeep wrangler with gm's upcoming 300hp baby duramax diesel would get me in the showroom!)

Having seen GM going further down the tubes, I'm not sure this is a good thing... we'll be buying bootleg Jeep parts made new in Chile to keep them going :(

i work at a dodge dealership and i have been asking around about this. some  figure since GM sold their shares in Isuzu (who supplied the duramax)  and Allison (who supplied the trans), they want "in" with dodge for the cummins and the transmission behind it.
we all have our own opinions. i dont care for anything that has the bowtie on it. if they do merge, i could care less as long as GM leaves their shitty hands out of the jeep department. GM has been more concerned with putting their name on korean built vehicles in the last few years. and im not a fan of that at all. there is a reason toyota is #1 in the world, but the japanese know how to build a good vehicle, koreans... not so much.
ok, theres my opinion. who wants to rag on me now??? hahahhahaa, lol!

In this global auto market all companys share parts and put their name on it,the 1.8l 4cy in the dodge caliberis a joint design between hyundai and mitsubish,no dodge design at all,G.M is starting to sorce alot of their excelent european products here (pontiac g-8,saturn astra and aura)Shure they have rebadged korean cars but they are entry level,Gm is still number one worldwide for sales, they just edged out toyota last year, and toyota quality is NOT as good as it used to be,i know this from my own experience with a sienna van and my sister's 07 Camry.I think GM chrysler merger would do both companys good, and it would solidify GM's number one spot, this merger is under accelerated talks right now,if its going to happen we will likely see it by the end of october.

that 1.8L world engine is a mix of a few companies. i just got soured on GM products from having to fix way too many stupid designs. i know no company is perfect. i guess i grew up as a ford guy and you gotta hate somebody i guess... lol!
and chrysler is selling the viper. or last i heard there probably wont be an 2009 or 2010 version.
we shall see how it all unfolds.
jeep would solve everybodis problems if they just put a v8 into the wrangler:)
