roof racks?

has anyone built a roof rack before?
i want to build one for my yj.
any ideas on if th topper can hold weight? i wouldent mind just creating some cross bars and havng the option of adding the basket on after that.

i put a factory roof rack from a 97 mazda MPV on my 03 hard top with a sport rack cargo basket w/extension had a good 200-300 lbs of camping gear and had no problems in the summer, now in the winter i dont know if you would really want to put that kind of weight on a fiberglass roof. now i know you can get thule roof racks for jeeps for around $300 for the rack only no basket, but if you go the way i did it only cost me $10 at pick n pull
