Pileup on QE2 on Thursday - South of Crossfield

For those that seen my photo's on Facebook, and those that haven't. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Rammed into a GMC Savanna fullsize van. But just on the first 4" of the passenger side of my narrowed front bumper. Me come out reasonably unscathed, the van however, ouch.

The two top bolts on the bumper sheared, jammed the bumper into the passenger side frame end, rammed the bumper mounting bracket into the sway bar bracket, and sheared the front bolt on the passenger side, compressing the passenger side bracket for the sway bar.

Today, I installed a new ATI starter, cause after 4 years of intermittent bendix action in cold weather, I've had enough.
Plus my front trackbar bushing.
Pulled the front bumper to assess the damage, EZ-outed the bumper bolts (the welded nut inside the frame, inside the front crossmember broke loose, no biggie, she'll get welded again.) The front inside nut for the sway bar broke free with the remains of the bolt still inside it. No biggie.
Cant get at the back bolt to the sway bar bracket without messing up my grill.

So, gonna zip off the bracket, save as much bushing as possible. Try jeepstuff for a replacement. Rattle off the back bolt to the remaining bracket. Remount both sides of the sway bar with the old and new brackets, and instead of bolting the front part of the passenger bracket, it'll be welded to the frame. (Nothing a grinder can't remove later).

The bumper brackets that are bent, will get heated and blacksmithed back into place with a BFH. The winch will get mounted, then the bumper. And wire and mount solenoid box.

That in a nutshell is today, and tomorrow's work. Pics coming when all done.

Sadly, I couldn't save the foglights. Upon impact, one lens just popped out and disappeared forever to the highway gods. The other, the bulb popped. For $5 fogs, I'll replace them with bigger/better/badder.

I'm ok, nothing wrong with me (other than the obvious). But I'm down another life, so this cat's got 6 left.
The semi truck with 18 locked wheels in a skid passing within 12" of me, outside my jeep; was pretty damn scary! I had even waited for the crash/bang show to stop before I got out of my jeep, but people for some reason moved their bumper cars out of the way to make room for an eventual sliding semi.
