restoring leafs
« on: May 24, 2009, 08:02:17 PM »
Okay, I picked up a bastard pack set of M38 leafs (military wrapped) to go on my project, and I'd like to give them a going over before I install them when I am ready.  Any tips?  The best thing I have heard so far is to sand them all down to the metal, lubricate each leaf, and then once they are together paint them with rust paint.

Sounds not bad to me....but a couple of questions.  What do I lubricate them with?  I have heard white lithium or axle grease. No problem with not rust painting the whole leaf before lubricating (I'm told the paint will just press off anyway).

Thanks. :)
