i like the side mirrors dont get me wrong, but i find that not having them i HAVE to shoulder check, and i actually have less close calls. because when i have a mirror there i see no 1 is there and subconsisly start lane chaning as i shoulder check. we if i have no mirror i make sure no 1 is there. thats just me and my habbits tho
I bit my tongue on this earlier because I like you...but after reading a thread that you posted elsewhere, I have to say this.
If you have already noticed that you are having close calls because you're not spending the half-second required to shoulder check because you're looking in your wing mirror instead, the solution is not to shrug your shoulders and take your mirror off. The solution is to find a driving teacher and take a basic class.
The company I work for has a substantial fleet, and we require people to complete a combined defensive driving course/driving assessment before they are allowed to drive one of our vehicles. People who don't shoulder check aren't allowed to drive. Period.
