if you do a nutter bypass on a factory carter carb that will cure 90% of the carb problems; as for a weber Ive herd good and bad , my cousin has a weber on his 89 YJ and has problems starting it even if it only sits for a day an dhe lives in Alabama where it dont get cold
Just for your knowledge, the "Nutter Bypass" is not for your carb, it's to bypass the computer controlled ignition system. The Bypass DOES eliminate the computer so they ask you to warm up your motor first, then unplug the carb so the enrichener needles go to full rich.
I would highly recommend the MC2100 on any AMC 6 cyl carb'ed motor be it a YJ or CJ 4.2L. There is another option of one of my silly FrankenCarb inventions. You need a 2 barrel BBD from any Dodge 318. Remove the Jeep baseplate and top section and swap it over to the 318 center section and you have then eliminated the computer section, lower the float level to 7/16" then set the mixture and you have a great combo that will rival the MC2100 for off-road capability and power.
The Weber is a great but spendy carb for the AMC 6. Some people have reported trouble tuning them but it's really just experience that will dial it in perfectly.
My 2 bits, do the "Nutter Bypass", then make a FrankenCarb, adjust it and never have to touch it again. Cost = $50 at the most.
