how to increase 06 Rubicon airlocker speed ?
« on: March 12, 2010, 01:52:13 PM »
Hi,

I have an 06 Rubicon with factory Dana 44 airlockers. I am not very happy with the speed of activation and disconnection.   Anyone figure out to improve this?  I also do not get the solid light on the toggle while having the front lockers engaged.  Just continuously flashes after I engage them with the switch.  Any ideas?

The only way i know is to put in ARB air lockers instead.

But, what i usually did was move back and forth from 1st to reverse and back to 1st to engage/disengage quicker.

The flashing light may mean there is a fault with that locker or switch. do you know for sure if the locker engages.

Do you mean you only try and engauge the front one?  I don't have lockers so I'm guessing here but I thought I heard the front will only engauge if the back is on.
This is not 'Nam, this is wheeling.  There are rules.

the front will only engage if the back is engaged .. as for speed if your using your lockers you shouldnt be in a rush since your in 4low

The flashing light is not a good indicator of whether or not the locker is actually locked.

If its a functioning locker then locking is almost instant.

Ignore the light.

I "heard from a guy who used to have am 03 rubi" (so take this for what it is worth) that you can make a modification to the switch to engage the locker in 4-hi and run at any speed, although the higher the speed, the more likely you could break something...

not sure if it true or bs.

it is true, you can remove the safety but likely to blow the diff apart afterwards if you make a single mistake.

If it is anything like mine (also stock OEM lockers) then the flashing light means it is either attmepting, waiting or in the process of locking it

For mine to lock I have to have to be in low range, stopped with the clutch in; not sure if Jeep is the same.
I wanted a Jeep... but the wife gave me a Hummer!
