Serious question....is your Patriot the "Trail Rated" Freedom II package, or not?  It will be if it has the Trail Rated badge on the front.   ???

And before anyone jumps all over me, read up on the Patriots.

Well, the Trail Rated Patriot is more suited for off-road....appears to have a better 4x4 system, skid plates, and about 1" taller....but depending on some of the trails down there, some others can chime in as to whether your rig will be okay out there or not.

Just go pick up a cherokee for cheap and build it  up.  Doesn't take much and their alot of fun.  Because then if something breaks while wheeling you don't have to worry about having it fixed for work.

Justin makes a good point.  With a cheap $500-$1000 cherokee, you will not need to do a lot of work to make it trail worthy, and you won't have to worry about affecting your daily driving.  There's always a chance something might go wrong on the trail.

I was quoting a former President of the club that called it that.  I will gladly keep both of them. They each have a role. Its fun having a new toy but I will keep my TJ for years. Test driving the TJ today. ;D

i thought Patriots were only 'waiparous' rated..................

i don't think i would take one of those things anywhere my neighbours minivan wouldn't go ;)

unless it had solid axles and some much larger/agressive meats :)

mmm future mods for the Patriot perhaps ;)

Hey don't slag the King of Jeeps.

I belive the word is "Battleship", not "King".

Maybe he could have the first badass Patriot in the city.  If he's got the cash pretty much anything is possible.

Think of it, a Patriot with chopped out fenders, tubed up, 37's on Spyderlocks riding on D60's with 5.13 gears and a HEMI with a supercharger pushing around 500 HP, snorkel, skids, sliders, rip off the whole front and rear ends and tuck them up, 4 corner coil-overs..... oh it could be done.  It'd be a monster.

lol. I think you guys must have scared him off.
If you're still around, the club is very off-road oriented, and I think the gist of what everyone is saying is this: It's just a matter of time before your Jeep gets hurt. The better built it is for off-roading, the less the damage there will be and the more your Jeep will be able to handle the challenges. You don't have to go crazy, I wheeled my TJ stock for years. I just needed to choose my own path... usually the easy one. If you're interested in the club, the best thing is to make it to a meeting or two.

Thanks for all the info, I didn't know that there was alot of off roading involved, I really don't think that my jeep would last as it is our  only vehicle.

Well, good luck with the Jeep. They are a great vehicle. If you have any questions, or change your mind at some point down the road, you know where to find us.
