Since we have now had a confirmed case of rabies close to home and in an area that a lot of us frequent, I am only recommending that people ensure their pets are current on their rabies vaccination.  If you had the choice between a vaccine or a fatal disease which would you pick?

I never stated to go and get a vaccine NOW or else, I just said to make sure they are up to date.

I do not know of any Vets these days that doing annual rabies vaccines.  Most vaccine manufactures recommend vaccination the first 2 years in a row, then every 2-3 years depending on the pet.  Ideally we could all do vaccine titres to avoid over vaccinating our pets, but it’s not very cost effective in the long run ($200-300 for rabies titre vs the cost of vaccine depending on your clinic)

As far as I know the cat in Cremona was an indoor/outdoor cat.  But I have read about cases where strictly indoor pets have been infected by a bat getting into the house.  Which I know sounds strange but I have been in an old farmhouse with bats in it.

It seems with giardia some pets are not as susceptible as others.  I have been camping with a few dogs and 2 out of 3 got giardia, so I am not really sure how that always works.
Most of the lifestyle vaccines like giardia and kennel cough are not 100%; they just help to improve our chances of not getting the illness.

I think the correct trailer park term for what you'd get is "radies".  Either that or a knee in the chops  :o
This is not 'Nam, this is wheeling.  There are rules.

If you're biting beaver and it can reach your chops with a knee, then you're doing it all wrong   ;D
