2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Starting Issues
« on: May 10, 2010, 10:17:30 PM »
Hi all, I drive a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition.

It tends to go through spurts of not wanting to start on the first turn of the key. Some days it starts right away and some days it doesn't want to start on the first go....

Does anyone know the cause of this and/or what to do to alleviate the problem???

Without knowing the kilometers or the last time a tune up was done...

I did have that problem with my old 89 Blazer, it would not start after the first turn of the key, only the second. I replaced the fuel filter and it fixed the problem. I had to later replace the fuel pump two months later.

You might want to check the basic (and cheap) things first; fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, check the electrical systems (battery, starter, wires). If all of that is good condition you might want to check the fuel pressure. I've solved most of my starting problems by those, and they cost very little.
