Well your Dad should be happy to know that he was mistaken and can stop paying shops to do inspections that he is certified to sign off on. ;)

Maybe he just said that cause he didn't want to sign off your vehicle. I've told a few "friends" that I wasn't certified to do inspections just to get them off my back when they wanted under the table inspections.

That's quite the assumption. I highly doubt that's the case.
Just make sure your insurance company will accept your signature on the dotted line. They might not like the idea if they knew it was your signature. Good luck.
