Wiper Blade Arms not sitting flush

With the weather getting nice again, having wiper blades that work properly is a must!  My jeep doesn't seem to agree with this!  I thought I had fixed the issue with my wiper blades not sitting flat agains my windsheild by making a few small bends in the arm, but the cold snap we just had must have undone all my work.  Is there a bolt or nut that can be tighted on the wiper blade arm that will make it sit tighter to the windsheild? Or am I going to have to suck it up and pay to replace it?

You can adjust it by taking a large hammer and beating on it.









or just buy a new one.  That may work too  ::)

unless I drempt it up, you can buy springs somewhere and they make the wipers sit tighter.

Persuading additional curves into the lustrous chemical element has little impact applying pressure to the window.
They're engineered with a recoil device to achieve this application of force.. Do you have a recoil device? Is your recoil device worn out? Is it installed correctly?

There's a spring underneath the wiper arm that you can modify to make your wipers  work better. Drill a new hole and move the spring so that there is more tension on the blade/arm.

See I figured bending it would provide a greater angel and therefore more pressure... but i was never good at math nor do I have much mechanical knowledge!  This would explain why it didn't work.  I'll have a look at the spring and see what I can do.

I second this one. Mine need to be lubricated regularly as they seem to have some bimetal corrosion there and stiffen up. I used to have supplementary springs until they snapped, but that simply delayed the problem, though it did extend the lubrication intervals :)  When the weather is nicer, I think I'll take mine off and soak them overnight.

I didn't notice this on the maintenance schedule!  ;D

My Jeep have never had a problem.  But the Girlfriends TJ is same as yours.  Took a good 2-3 weeks of lube to get it back to wiping clean.

I haven't taken a good look at the pivot yet, but it seems bending the arm back away from the windsheild seems to put better pressure on the wiper blades.  Although I have been getting a squilling noise when I use them for the first time everyday.  This may be a lube issue or a motor issue?  It sounds like a pig squilling!!! 

I've I were to lube the pivot is there anything besides common sense that I should know?

I was told the squealing was normal when it's cold out, so I haven't tried doing anything about it.

Well that sucks if the squilling is normal...nothings more annoying than that noise when youre barely awake in the a.m.
