What tires are you running right now.Good to here that everything is working but i don't mind helping out that what is all about anyway. That hill was great i wonder how it is now.I bet it's a lot better now since we broke the trail.I think the harder it is the better it is.I like 4x4 for all the thinking i have quads and its just to easy.SO every chance i get i like to go 4X4ing for the challenge!!!!

I am in guys if you aren't planning anything too crazy. I have studded 31s, tow points, locker and recovery gear. My only issue is ground clearance as I have yet to install my lift. I will see you guys there and we can discuss it from there.

Lots of fun, Good run

Took this video of 88xj slidin down the hill, its narrow because i took it with my phone

copy and paste the linkwww.youtube.com/watch?v=_Gw7tMz6kc8

I noticed their are unrun trails branching off the winter trails with jeep signs on them. I take it these are open as well? and not just the loops?

I gotta say, sliding backwards down a hill with all 4 locked would be a little frightening...  Guess you have to see where you came from to know if its bad or not :o

Locking it up when you are sliding downhill is not only scary, it's downright dangerous.  As your rig is front heavy it will have a tendency to want to swing out, think pendulum.  A vehicle sliding sideways downhill can soon be one rolling down the hill. And I don't mean rolling tires either; I mean roof wheels roof wheels type of rolling.

Your instinct is to mash the brakes but what you should do is hit reverse ASAP, and keep your foot off the clutch and brakes, let the engine be your brake and drive downhill in reverse.  A controlled descent in reverse is way better than an uncontrolled slide.

Glad it all worked out though, looks like the ruts held you in alignment down the hill.
