I've driven on the Autobahn and there is no issue with unlimited speeds there, yes the Autobahn is alittle smoother than our highways, but the QE II is pretty close.  I say that we have unlimited speed between Calgary and Edmonton for those of us with the need and the equipment for speed.  It's pretty cool when you pass a Police car at 165 kph and they don't blink and cruise at 195 kph because that's all it will do - rental diesel Opel.  Our speed laws have long been out of date with current capabilities of our cars, we should be travelling at the speeds the Europeans are.

I reckon its more the speed of the human brain's ability to think and react, rather than the speed of today's supercars, that is the overriding factor here.

I wasn't trying to stereotype or have any racial remarks behind me reply. Just after living out there, that's who you saw driving those types of cars in those areas. As I'm sure you saw as well AstraX. Sure it could be any race. Doesn't really matter. It's just 13 kids that won't be having a license for a while and a few nice rides gone to waste.

I don't think our speed limits need to be increased here though. Some of us who's Jeeps can't do more then 110 downhill would be a traffic hazard to the ones flying by doing 250. Or even 160. Or the people who are scared of even driving on deerfoot, they would be a huge traffic hazard and react in a manor that would create accidents and we would see more deaths on our highways. We don't have the driving mantality here that they have in Europe. Sadly.

Seen the interview on tv about the drivers or purps who claimed to be innocent. They all looked of asian decent to me. No racism there at all. For there to be racism there had to be hatred. No comments on hatred here either.

Cars are getting returned, drivers face $196 ticket. It was called in by a witness so there is little the police can do.

Were they speeding? Probably.
Should they be fined? Yes.
Should a witness with no training or a chip on their shoulder be enough proof to have someone's $150k+ car seized or license revoked? No.
