Buying a New Rubicon
« on: August 03, 2012, 09:54:26 AM »
My wife is serious on buying a new 2012 4 door Rubicon.

Big question is what is a good price from the dealer's asking price?

All depends on your option package. My wife's 2dr list price was $43k I think.  But that was pretty much a fully loaded model.

ya my 2 door pretty barebones a/c, heated seats, no nav, just the cd player, cloth ,and manual was 29500 mind you there was great insentives last july aug or order 2012 saved a bit i figured. One other friend that picked up a 4 door sport 2012 paid around 33 so I do figure prices are up and seeing a fully loaded 2 door going for 43k wow seems bit high.

list price was $43k. We paid closer to $37k for it. This was also in October and there were no factory discounts on the 2012 yet.

They probably won't "deal" as much on a 4 door as they will on a 2 door. Too many soccer moms like the 4 doors, and they sell too well. :-\
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

A little off topic but I recall shaganappi chev clearing old stock for 1/3 off sticker price, so I'd call BS on a 2k profit margin. Maybe a 2k commission for the sales guy, but 2k for the dealer would put them under IMO.

We have added a 4dr Rubicon to the Jeep fleet.

Spent four hours steady on the pc / phone dealing with jeep "product advisers".

End result purchased 2012 4 dr Rubicon Base price $34,795.00
                                                                         Options       $7,260.00
                                                        MRSP           Total   $ 41,940.00

Purchased $36,480 + GST 1899.95 Admin 499.00+ tire tax 20 AHVIC fee 7.00 Total 38,905.00

Purchased from "product adviser" Kurt Thomas 780 901 3672 Capital Jeep Edmonton

Kurt and his supervisor Shawn made this the best new vehicle purchase I have ever made. Both made it clear that they where there to sell me a vehicle, Shawn asked a number of questions to do a credit check on the phone and then offered the above vehicle that had $2,000.00 more options than Southside's jeep in Red Deer, at the same price offer that Southside  did not accept.

We drove up to the dealership and was on the road home with the new jeep, in a hour and a half with no changes in the price quoted or upselling etc!

We just got our full load 2012 Sahara for 33k, the rubicon option was 37k for a full load plus tax...
That's leather, Nav, sat radio... Etc
I deal exclusively with airdrie Chrysler, as they consistently come in 5-25k below any other dealership in the Calgary area

Shop around, I have helped buddy's get a few deals by going to a few dealer ships, telling the salesmen flat out, your going for the 2012 rubicon in this color, these options, and going to who ever gives the best price, all salesmen want their commission and generally do what ever they can to make the sale, also once in a while  sales men will say go some place else then too,

My mom almost bought a 2011 mustang last year, we went to Marlborough ford, they didn't want to play ball. Universal was doing just about everything they could to make the sale, but in the end she didn't like the trade in and such, but shop around, see who plays ball, and go with them, no one likes ball hogs.
