I run 1.5" spacers on 35's  with 4.5" back spacing on the rims.  Works well.

4.5 - 1.5 = 3.00" bs
Typical jeep rims for a 12.50 are 3.25

You may also want to invest in re-gearing or a blower. Dem Toyos are HEAVY.

Great tires though.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Maybe Jamal meant to say 3.75" BS because that's what I find is most common at least for 15' rims.

You should know I am talking spacers with my stock rims...
I don't have the right spacers the rims are stock so.....yeah?

I just posted that last little bit to point out that 4.25 does indeed rub. When I bought the spacers I assumed 5" of BS like most other 15x8 factory rims. 5-1.25 = 3.75 right?

My problem is I am thinking in terms of 15" rims...

17" is a funny size to put on a TJ there is not a ton of info or people who actually make a 17" rim with around 3.75 bs. Northridge has those AEV rims with 17" and 3.6" BS

Looking into it more 4.5" Bs on a 17" rim seems to be the norm and should get you through albeit with some touching! Keep in mind the wider the rim the fatter the tire will be and could rub more, 4.5" seems to work well for an 8" wide rim.

Actually frack it don't take my advice....I like to think I know more than I actually do  ;D I'm not having a ton of luck getting a definitive answer either..and I don't want to look into it anymore...thats your job

here's a useful-ish thread
