there was an ad on kijiji  I saw a while ago that plugs in and uses you factory key fob. Might be something to look into. Not sure if it work for GMs with the security

Hey buddy, if I were you I would get a dealership to install that car starter.  OEM stuff with a nice warranty.  I've had and heard of soooooo many people that have had problems with car starters, whether it be by-passing the security or electrical gremlins down the road.  Take it to someone with a good reputation and suck up the price,.  You want this done right the first time or you'll waste many hours chasing down future electrical problems.
I just can’t resist a good mud hole!  🤦

Not only that but you'll have the fun of being caught between the dealer and the starter installer fighting over who's fault any problem is.

Can you get one from the dealership that's 2-way and will reach further than the end of your driveway?  I'm a fan of the distance and acknowledgement.  Never had a problem with the viper we have on our truck.

Its not a problem with the starters themselves, its the person installing them.

Johnny, there are a couple of guys in Future Shop I could recommend.  They would probably be the only guys I would let install a starter on my vehicle.  I would just have to find out what stores they are working at.

I just had a starter put in my wife's 07 4runner at Autotemp in the SE. Originally I thought they were priced higher than Future Shop but once they listed out all the bypass modules and extra work that needed to be done to make the system seamless I had Futureshop re-bid and the price was within 20 bucks.  I like that they were upfront and honest right from the beginning.

Careful with the dealership because I had a buddy get a Honda starter put in and it just went to Autotemp anyways and he paid more.

They may still have a sale going on for their starters too right now.

Dan used to be at Visions on Macleod at Southland. He is no longer there. Find him and you will be very pleased. 8)
