if you haven't.......... change the fluid.  easier than a tranny swap.

start there.

K 4 hours later transmission is out.. now.. change clutch and release bearing at the same time? Price check tom morning

If your clutch is out then yes. Change the release bearing at the same time.

I dont know much about AX15's but if the slave is internal may as well change that at the same time too... Also have a look at your flywheel since its all apart now. If theres any damage to that a new flywheel really isnt all that much either... May as well do the work now rather than later..
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Didnt replace the clutch but replaced the release bearing and the transmission... all is good now.. now time to rebuilt the old one.. thanks for all the input guys!
