Moving an alternator

I would lik eto move my alternator on  my Cherokee from the bottom of the engine up to where my non-working A/C compressor is on the top of the engine.  Is there a kit or something that will allow me to do this or am I gonna have to fab up my own way to do this.

Just get the bracketry off the front of a non ac xj and it will bolt right up.

Probably have to change the belt accordingly.

Pick you part had a few xj's last time I was there. Might be worth a trip.

Or call jeep stuff and they will pull everything for you and have it sitting there for your pick up.

Or get a working compressor and plumb it for  onboard air and that's one more thing you can fill out on the tech. sheet at the show N' shine.

Have you done this? Every XJ I have seen wether it has AC or not has the alt at the bottom. If it doesn't have AC then there is a idler pully in its place and everyting else is the same.

If you are having problems with the ALT dying after being in mud, change the indexing of the case so that the brushes are at the top, then the crap will freely drain out the bottom.

I was going thru 2 alts a year untill Capt. Crunch told me to do this. Since I've done it no more problems.

No. I didnt know that. But I have put a YJ front assembly with alt at the top onto a xj 4.0

To replace the motor in the YJ. So I dont know how it fits in an xj.

So I guess you could look at that route if the fan will fit, and you dont mind ditching the little electric thats there. Its just for ac anyways.
