Hi, I'm new to Olds. alberta, and was wondering if anyone knew of any trails that me and my fiance can enjoy?
I am very novice in this off roading thing, and have a very stock jeep.  AND it only has the 2.5 in it.
I kind of fell into the wrong crowd (the import racing scene), please don't hold that against me. :(
I really love my jeep and want to see what it and I are capable of.
Any info would be awesome

You may want to drop by the CJA's annual Show & Shine this weekend, it would be a great opportunity to meet people and see what the CJA's all about.

There is nothing better than seeing big jeeps, and bsing about them to.

welcome to the dark side. just rememeber... we measure things tires, not wheels. 33's good, 22's not so good.

just because it's a 2.5 doesn't mean it can't be fun.  Just think of the weight  savings and stock gearing. There's lots of good people on this board and lots of good advice to be had.

Thats great you bought a jeep, you'll love it. Now you can spend lot's of money making it big hehe:)

Places to go are Mclean Creek, Indian Graves, Wiaporus (not really worth it though) and along the forestry rd west of Sundre, lots of nice camping there. All within 1 to 2 hours from Calgary.

Welcome to the Jeep forum.

2.5's are the best way to go, 4.0L are over rated :lol:

Since you live in Olds, you could also think about the cow lake area out by Rocky Mtn. House. I've never been out that way my self but I know lots have.

All these places are great, and I still love the Waiparous area (regardless of what Kel thinks :))  No matter where you go make sure you go with someone experienced.  Their is a true finese to recovery that you'll learn a lot faster from someone who has been there.

No matter where you go, you will get stuck and more then likely more than once.  Half of trail riding is how good your truck is, the other half is how good your equipment is.

Hehe, but since I've dicovered all the camping along the FSR near Sundre I perfer it now and is worth the extra half hour drive. It's all green grass and trees (so stay on the trail) and not dirt and trees. I haven't taken too many trails yet but it's like trail here cutline there, and I was camping beside a guy that had a argo and he said theres trails all over.

Where is this trail?  is it on the 27?
how far away from sundre is it.  I would really like to look at this trail considering I am 20 min. away from Sundre.

Heheh, ya your only an hour away at the most. Just take the hiway west to sundre and go straight through the 4 way stop. Stay on the highway to Bearberry and keep going straight on the highway. Goes for a few KM's then turns to gravel road. Keep going till you hit the T intersection. This is the main forestry road. Left is wiaporus, calgary and right is norgegg rocky mountain house. Just look for little trails off the forestry road and camp and wheel  :)

Heheh Nevil, you just got that eye on tire faults eh? (inside joke). Were you at the store? I was camping out there and some dude down the trail we were camping on had a major domestic situation with the wife the night before and I dropped him off at the store in the morning. His car was destroyed by the wife :)

Got there and found out the CJA guys were out and met a few. I gotta go on a run sometime.
