2023 "Off-Road 101" course - July 22
« on: June 26, 2023, 12:57:16 PM »
Hey Everyone!
The Calgary Jeep Association is pleased to once again announce our 11th Annual Off-Road 101 Course!

This is a one day, family friendly course that is open to anyone that will introduce participants to the basic skills that are necessary during an Off-Road adventure, as well as safe and environmentally friendly practices while on the trail.

There are a couple subtle changes this year to make note:
  • although this course has traditionally been restricted to Jeep-branded vehicles, this year we are opening our event to include other make/models. To participate, ALL must meet the "Vehicle Requirements" noted below.
  • we are looking to separate out the more detailed "recovery" aspect of our typical course offering and will instead plan to introduce a "Recovery 101" event this Fall (exact date TBD)
Rough outline of the day:

The course will take place at the Mclean Creek off highway land use area.  We will be meeting at the Mclean Creek store from 7:30am to 8:30am for vehicle inspections, etc. At 9:00am we'll start with introduction to off-roading instruction, along with various demonstrations to get you acquainted with your vehicle's capabilities. Around noon we'll have a short lunch break (you’re responsible to bring your own lunch as well as addition food and drinks the rest of the day).  Then we'll head out for a trail ride with CJA members providing instruction and support throughout the day.  Please note that this is an off-roading activity and there is always the possibility that damage, and scratches can occur to any vehicle.  The trail guides will do their best to prevent/minimize any potential damage to the vehicles, but the potential is always there.

The number of registrants will be limited to 20.

Well, we couldn’t have asked for a better day weather wise, and the trail conditions were just right with a nice variety of technical features to make for a great training session experience.
Thanks again for the membership that came out today to support and make it the best. Couldn’t have done it without you! 😎
