Rumor in Bragg Creek is that Mclean will receive a similar fate as the Ghost and will be closed to trucks next spring.

Where did you hear this rumour?  At this point, nothing suprises me.  I wouldn't doubt it if they did it sooner.

That 5% of the entire offroad population (being trucks) sure must do a lot of damage hey?      What a load of crap.

It's not wise to start rumours like that... where the heck did you hear that?

I bet it's BS again!

im gonna stay positive and hope that it doesnt. i would hate to see the only place thats "close" for the calgarians be shut down to the ones who help out more than all the other people out there, to keep the place clean.

If this is the stuff that is happening... why wouldn't the Gov want to shut it down?     I can't believe the lack of respect that people have for anything anymore.  I was told this weekend was one of the busiest a friend ofmine has seen in a long time.  If it was so busy, how come no one saw who did this?  People like this are ruining it for people like us who care about the areas.  This is rediculous.

Thank you to Dr Tom Kelly for this picture.

That pic came from a rider.
The problem is SRD not getting those wrecks out of there!!!
The 5 wrecks at Fisher West are still there...waiting...waiting...
Its their frickin fault for leaving abandoned vehicles there.
SRD, get off your asses and go get those damn cars out of there

I completely agree, however it is also the fault of the RCMP!!!   I will post again what I was emailed by Roger Meyer a while back when we did our last cleanup/fence build & pulled those cars to the staging areas:

Quote

Moving and or  removal of vehicles that have been abandoned in the area. The process that is in place regarding abandoned vehicles is that 1. SRD creates an occurrence report on the vehicle. This is done whether the vehicle is found by SRD staff or is being reported by the public. 2. SRD forwards a copy of the occurrence report to the local RCMP detachment. 3. The RCMP create a file and investigate. 4. Once the RCMP investigation is complete, the vehicle can be removed from the area. It is at this stage that we have appreciated the help of people like Blair Code in the retrieval and removal of the abandoned vehicles if the RCMP does not have the vehicle removed by a towing company. Until the RCMP give permission to remove the vehicle, the site is considered to be a crime scene and must not be disturbed until the police have finished their investigation.

I heard that they are trying to go after the owner, or last known owner to pay for removal and cleanup of car pictured above.

Erin,
its all politics. RCMP needs to do this before SRD does that. i call BS on SRD. Those 5 wrecks have been there long enough. Surely, SRD could have forced RCMP to tag them for removal but the pessimistic side of me says the longer wrecks are there, the better for SRD to close areas.
There is another wreck sitting in 'Jimmy meadows' That is the meadow that had the old Jimmy carcass sitting for years. Now there is another one

yeah it's all BS.  They are definitely setting us all up for failure, as they have been doing for a long time now.  I know there are people on here who work with the SRD & do everything they say, but don't you find it strange that they are the ones asking us for help & then closing the trails and pointing the fingers back at us for causing the problems?

SRD doesnt want to work with us, all they want is a scapegoat.

So let me get this straight.....

If there is a break and enter, the RCMP will normally not send someone out to it unless the perp is still on the premises, due to lack of manpower. Which is understandable.

But yet they want the vehicle left there UNTIL THEY COMPLETE THE INVESTIGATION? BECAUSE IT'S A CRIME SCENE?

I bet if you got a contact name from SRD on the vehicle, and you got a contact name from the RCMP on the vehicle, you would get two different stories.
