Kennel in Calgary?
« on: July 30, 2007, 09:56:07 AM »
We need to drop our dog off on Aug 3 until Aug 10 so we're looking for a kennel.  We had a reservation at the one we normally take her to but we had to change the date at the last minute.  Any suggestions?  We also need a spot around Christmas and our kennel is already booked up.  Thanks. ....Steve

I took my dog to Springbank Kennels just out by COP.  Shouldn't be too far from where you live... check them out.

How did you like that place?  It's close to our house so I thought about it but a friend of ours heard some bad stuff about it.  I put a call in to www.gonewildkennels.com but haven't heard back.  They're a little farther away but apparently very nice people and the kennels are clean and well maintained.

I had my dog in there last May when we went to Moab. Excellent kennel, was very happy with them. Must have chatted with the owner for almost an hour about 4X4ing. Its a ways out though, from my house in Cochrane to the kennel was about 20-30min depending on how fast you boot down gravel roads.   :D

Try e-mailing him, he is a bit better about returning email then he is about phone calls. He is extremely busy though and usually to get in needs advanced booking.

Tell him I referred you(aka the guy who went to Moab), never know maybe it will help.

Yeah it seemed ok I guess.  My dog wasn't too happy to be left there, but it was clean.  They do feed them crappy food though, so it's best to bring your own.

Thanks Clay, I emailed him earlier today so hopefully I'll hear back soon.  We have friends who used them and were ahppy as well.

Erin, thanks for the feedback on Springbank.  If we can't find another spot I may take a drive out and see this place for myself.  ...Steve

Did the place look clean and well maintained?  I've heard it's pretty gross but have never been out myself.
