Title: Got the new 4x4 home.
Post by: Spinalguy on September 09, 2008, 12:39:00 PM
i went to the Montana border to pick up the 'new to me' truck. 97 12v Cummins.
The CSI border team sealed me in the garage and finetooth combed the truck. Nothing found and they confirmed the truck was very clean underneath. ;D
First on the to do list was to see Folk Automotive for the inspection and repairs.
All fluids were good which was a bonus except we did the oil/filter.
Front pass wheelbearing assembly was toast and one tierod end.
Tires rotated and alignment done.
Daytime headlights done.

A visit to my muffler guy and she was breathing easier!
Vinman will be doing some auxillary lighting set up tonight.

Line-X on Blackfoot did an awesome job of lining the box this a.m.
Surprisingly, after pulling the plastic cargo liner out on Saturday with help from a felow jeeper zjay, we found 2 things, the box was clean and rust free. We also found an inhabitant that has evaded the CSI team at the border...thank gawd as it might have been grounds for impounding :o
Looking at arachnoid species native to Florida it appears this one is a Brown Widow that some argue is more venomous than its cousin the Black widow. Travis and i were lucky to not have lifted that box out by the 'nest'.

Bed with no liner. The dark is not rust but ground in red dirt.

Expect to be completely bent over on any Dodge forum if you don't list "getting gauges" with any engine mods.  They're pretty hardcore about the need to have them.

i am only going 100hp with ability to increase in future. The set up will allow towing travel or cargo trailers with no need for gauges. The auto tranny is the weakspot so i very much doubt i will ever completely bomb it. IF i do, than gauges will be done. i may do the 3g govenor kit at some point though.

Diesel trucks and trailers are kewl.

Tom, what did the Line-X set you back? I want to get mine done, but if it's too pricey, I'll do it myself...again. It would just be waaaayy less work to have Line-X do it.
