I need to find someone with a 04 tj that has air....mine has to go to be recharged and no one at the dealer seems to figure out the specs for it...please help....
-
What do you need exactly ?
-
the dealership should know what it needs. i work at a dodge dealership and all the specs and info of your jeep is a click away. dare i ask what dealer you brought it to?
-
if they are any good they can charge it by pressures.... probably only a 1.25 pounds or so.
-
I took it to the dealrship here in Canmore to put a new engine in it...after our little surfing the wave incident....took them over 2 weeks and they can not find the specs on it...i was told they need the numbers off the air system, was told to open the hood look on the system and get the numbers LOL...if we don't get these number by monday i don't get it charged.....will also be the last time my tj goes there.
-
nothing under the hood, or even underside of the hood?
many labels are right on the top of the rad, by the compressor....
-
i was told the specs that are right on the top of the air contioning unit
-
hubby who has the tj tonight will be home and better explain that for all the help so far....
-
Mine is an '06, automatic, sticker says PA6-263617. Not really specs. but that's all I see.
Also some #'s on the back bracket,(1/2 coverred by a bolt) I dunno about those telling anything about the charge ?
-
well sorry to say it was at canmore chrylser it is the last time it goes there. anyways i need the A/C spects for 2004jeep tj because they dont have a clue.they tell me they can find any info on it on the internet.anyways if anyone has an 04 could you check for me thanks
-
I've heard bad things about the dealer in Canmore... gal I know that lives there and drives a Jeep takes it to the Ford dealer, the only one she swears by, but then she knows someone there :)
I'll look at my system tonight... the dealer should be able to find whatever they need on the dealer system as someone pointed out. They are being lazy or stupid... pardon for being so blunt, but I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
I'll also check my FSM for my '04 Rubi.

MANIFOLD GAUGE SET CONNECTIONS
CAUTION: Do not use an R-12 manifold gauge set
on an R-134a system. The refrigerants are not compatible
and system damage will result.
LOW PRESSURE GAUGE HOSE The low pressure
hose (Blue with Black stripe) attaches to the suction
service port. This port is located on the liquid line
near the evaporator inlet tube at the rear of the
engine compartment.
HIGH PRESSURE GAUGE HOSE The high pressure
hose (Red with Black stripe) attaches to the discharge
service port. This port is located on the
manifold directly over the discharge port of the compressor.
RECOVERY/RECYCLING/EVACUATION/CHARGING
HOSE The center manifold hose (Yellow, or
White, with Black stripe) is used to recover, evacuate,
and charge the refrigerant system. When the low
or high pressure valves on the manifold gauge set
are opened, the refrigerant in the system will escape
through this hose.

didn't say how much of a charge to put in.....

This stuff ? ;D
Refrigerant Oil Capacities
Component ml fl oz
A/C System 180 6.1
Accumulator 90 3
Condenser 22 .75
Evaporator 45 1.5
Compressor
drain and measure
the oil from the old
compressor as noted
-
No...
there will be some sort of a lable "somewhere" stating how much refrigerant (R134a) there is in the system. A charge is weighed in, so the lable will be in lbs, or kgs, not fl oz, or mL.
That stuff is info on the oil (POE) that components will hold.
Scott/Kerri... did the shop pressure test, and evacuate the system properly, yet? I am going to guess NO, since they can't/won't charge it up....
-
As promised, I had a look... no label that I could find anywhere, but the FSM has the answer (hidden inside text of course).
The Standard Procedure - Refrigerant Recovery is on P 24.51
The Standard Procedure - Refrigerant System Evacuate is on the same page
The Standard Procedure- Refrigerant System Charge is on P 24.52
Hmm, they do say the capacity is on the underhood HVAC tag, but I only found an emissions tag... let me have a closer look! I wonder if I somehow washed it off during one of my engine washes...

On the Rubicon Owners Forum, I found a post for an '03 Rubi and an '05 Rubi Unlimited and both were 1.25 Lbs from evacuated (0PSIA).
Now I'm thinking the label may have "disappeared" when I had some collision damage repaired.
