Well, finally fixed that squeaky shock and unloaded about a 100lbs of mud caked carpet! Now I've got a nice bed liner with drain holes, next time I'll go around that damn bogger hole!

not to mention you probably have an extra 500 pounds of mud now permanently inside your frame, sitting there slowing rotting it out, dragging your gas milage down, etc... ;D
-
Nope, after many hours picking at it with a screw driver and a pressure washer I think I've got it all.
-
that is why i don't run shock boots. just holds mud in.
that interior looks, umm, interesting. hope you got it all out!
time to rhino line it, and maybe punch a few 'drainage' holes into the bottom
-
There we go, now i can drive it without getting filthy.

Mud is Evil!!!
-
Ouch thats one big clean-up, Mud is the devil. >:(
-
looks good thus far tho!
-
Nice floor mats Jamey!
Don't forget to plug the holes in the frame . I don't want to dig old mud out of there again.
I guess the wife will actually get into your Jeep now. Guess you shouldn't have left the mud in there for TWO years! Looks good though :)

So tell me more about this thing called mud!
Wow, that's all I have to say.. it's everywhere... I pulled the rear driveshaft last night & one of my u-joints were just caked in dry mud, unfortunately, this did not fix my driveline issue after replacing the u-joint, but it was needed as the caps were dry & rusty..oops!
So, what areas underneath need addressing after playing in Mud?
Shock boots, if you decided to keep them..
U-joints
Rims on the inside lip
Skid plates
anything else?

everything needs to be addressed. check your diffs/tcase fluids to see if water got in. bad news bears
all your axle seals, bearings and just about anything else that moves.
if u wheel in the mud, your first stop back into town should be the carwash.............. or park it on the lawn and put the sprinkler on under it. that helps. you have to clean the mud out of EVERYTHING, frame, bearings/seals, you name it.
mud sucks for a reason
-
Thanks! I see why now.. I knew about the diff & what not, but never payed attention to axels or bearings..
I can't wait to pull on the lawn to water my truck.. oh the look on the neighbors faces.. yes! ;D

Then go find a rough road after and a lot of the mud will fall off

i thoroughly enjoy it.

train tracks work really well too. my 'washing' scheme is as follows: water undercarriage of jeep with sprinkler, (in back yard or side of house. the neighbours LOVE me) or usually get under there with the hose. wash out every crevice i can find. on route to carwash after to clean outside with presure washer i hit the tracks at the bottom of the hill as fast as i can get going. this shakes the rest of the crap off sometimes. then head to carwash, spend 15" and make it all shiny again.......... this is usually followed by either another romp in the mud, a rainstorm or a bird pooping on the hood.
i can't win
-
Thanks for the tips...
How do you clean the frame? Do you mean the inside the frame? just run a hose at an access point somewhere?
The infamous bird poop after the wash... Why do they always aim for my driverside windows???
-
They must be aiming for me..lol
Thanks for the reply Tinkerer, I was beginning to feel stupid for asking such a question, but I'm new to this..so it's expected I guess.. :-[

Hows that mud working out for ya now after this weekend bud? Back to the begining again :)
I spend almost 50 at the carwash and still didnt get it all. Interior isnt even touched yet. Dumb stoopid mud.
-
After playing in the Mud hole at McLean again this weekend and spending an hour at the car wash trying to get the mud out... my infatuation with mud is over. >:(
-
After spending 1/2 an hour a day for a week with a hotsy getting the mud and poo out from under the Z, I'm not a real big fan of it any more either. Mud seems to come off the underside of the 1/2 ton alot easier than the jeep.

Yeah, it's a bit easier this time though. Just dumping buckets of water in and letting it drain out the plugs. Haven't had time to hit the car wash yet, maybe we'll get a good thunder storm later. ;D They hate me at the car wash, I usually get yelled at by the guy beside me and a couple of nasty glares from the car behind me! ;D All part of the fun!
-
put a sprinkler under your vehicle and let it run for an hour or two

Works awesome. Answering to the wife as to why's there's a new mudpit/sandbox in the back yard is never fun, but the sprinkler definately does the trick. :)

LOL
clean rig>angry gf/wife
-
All that good soil from the mountains helps to enrich the soil, therefore helping your lawn look better (atleast thats what I tell the wife and bylaw enforcement) ;D
-
haha we dont get bylaw officers in auburn bay, but 8% of the calgary police service lives here.
so guess its hit or miss i'll find out in a couple months when the xj is parked out front
