Anyone heading out to McLean tommorow (14th)?
Looking to do a basic run and see what works and what doesn't on the new rig. You know what they say... never wheel alone.
Let me know?
-
I am thinking of going Sunday if that works for you.
-
Unfortunately... I got other stuff I gotta get done on Sunday.
-
A buddy and I are headed out to mclean sat, around 9:30ish , im on 35's and winch , buddy has 33's and lockers
-
Hey man, Im meeting a couple buddies at the gravel pit Saturday @12:30pm, if you dont know how to get to the pit be at the Mclean store for say 12:15 and I will meet you there around then. Would be good to see ya out another time before the place actually closes
It's a later start but, thats the way it always ends up..

Jonas... good to hear from ya... the later start is perfect for me as I have a few things to do to the "new rig" before I head out.
I have no idea where the gravel pit is. I have "offroad only" plates and there is no way the new rig is street legal... so can we meet at that loading/offloading area just down the road from the store (i.e. on pavement past the store & just past the campground entrance)?
I'll be unloaded and probably be goofing around down there trying to figure out how the Atlas transfer case and a few other things work. If ya see a brownish Mega Cab Dodge w/ a 28' gooseneck attached... that's me and wont be far away with the rig. See ya round noonish.
I'm gonna be away from a computer starting around 8:00AM... so here is my cell (968-1973) in case something changes on your end.
Thanx.
Kevin

Ya... ya missed a good one. Aside from a little bit of trail wiring... new rig performed very well... I am much happy ;D
Jonas... I owe ya a spool of wire and a roll of black tape. Don't let me forget?
Later...

Was a good day!
No worries about the wire Kevin....I knew it would come in handy someday. 8)

It aint the prettiest thing ya ever seen... but then again... that was the plan. Who needs two pretty Jeeps ???
-
Fantastic!
1 ton running gear?
-
That looks like one GREAT trail rig. :)
-
Yup... Dana 60 w/ CrMo inner & outer shafts in the front and a full float 14bolt in the back... both w/ detroit lockers. I dig the dual internal beadlocked H1 rims too and the TSL-SX's did real well on all sorts of different surfaces & terrain.
Cant wait to put it up against similar built rigs and see how it does.
Thanx for the props guys!
-
Just too cool. Nice ride man
-
That's one awesome rig! You really got serious with this "hobby" Kev. You don't mess around....so does this mean your wife gets the red one now?
-
Nice Rig kevin, but what's with the square headlights? :D
-
Not sure what I'm doin with the red one. I'll see how much I use it between now and when the economy gets better. I offered it to the wife and she said no :(
The "squares" are starting to grow on me... but I am thinking of a TJ grill. I hear they are pretty much a bolt in with only the corners of the hood showing any gaps.
Man... jeeps are like heroin... but I dont need to tell you guys that :D
-
Awsome unit Dude

A CJ grill would look awesome on that rig.
-
CJ grill... never thought of that.
What I really need right now is a 90" wide trailer (regular ball/bumper hitch). Don't really feel like dropping $7K on a brand new trailer. I'd rather score a used one for $2K->$3K and spend the difference on Jeeps ;)
-
Kevin; Robyn, (fug) has a decent trailer for sale for CHEAP. i just saw it this weekend. its in decent enough shape, and will free up about 5500$ for you to spend on jeeps ;)
-
Ya I was booked to go see his trailer last night but something came up and we had to delay to Friday. Thanx for the tip though... much appreciated.

Thats what I said! 8)
Although I like the YJ 'boxiness' as well...
-
I did a little web research and it would appear that a TJ grill swap requires just a TJ grill... and works with the YJ hood and flat fenders that are on the Jeep. The CJ grill swap requires grill & hood and may not work with my fenders.
So unless I am mistaken... the TJ grill swap wins on both looks & simplicity of the swap 8)

Either way this rig performs excellent! It was a great trip! Your always gonna have snags with a new rig, just glad it was an easy fix!! Good ol yankee wiring.... ;)
