Title: Bumper Build
Post by: Rich99 on December 05, 2010, 11:33:39 AM
Here are some pics of the new bumper. Thanks Pook for the awesome work and craftsmanship.

I can't wait until it is done. What do you guys think - bed liner or powder coat?? I am leaning on powder coat to match my sliders.

Rich bedlinner for sure it will hold up to the hooks and clevises banging agaist it better then powder coat ( IMO ) not to mention Calgarys graveling (AKA Sanding ) in the winters  ;)

+1 on the bedliner. Mine's rhinolined and I've been running it since January of 2009 - so far it's holding up great. From what Pook tells me, that's the plan anyways  :)

Bedliner.  I have found the DIY solutions to be a bit more brittle and considerably cheaper than the commercial applications, but easy to repair.

For my bumper is did alternating coats of tremclad and rubberized rocker panel spray. Come in a rattle can from Canadian Tire. Very pleased with the results. Did about 3 coats of each. Held up pretty good banging around in Moab.

Save your money. Just Tremclad it. So much easier to repaint every Spring and touch ups are simple.
It looks good too. If you line x it, than you need to line x other things so it looks 'right'. If only the front bumper is line x, it will stick out and not in a good way. ;)

Here is the finish up on the project. Awesome job and great results thanks to Pook!

By the way I went for Bedliner on the bumper, sliders and rear bumper as well.

According to Pook its guaranteed to. It has a built in electronic force field not unlike the Starship Enterprise. Lets hope he is right.
