Title: I Think Aussie Measuring Tapes are Screwy - OME 2"
Post by: silverfox on February 02, 2011, 08:16:27 PM
First off thanks to Jay at Chanda Precision for doing an awesome job on getting my lift in and doing it on budget and right smack on time.

After much decision making and discussion and questions and queries I went with the OME 2" lift, HD Coils, Currie Front Lower Control Arm, Long Travel Shocks, Extended Brake Lines, extended bump stop,  and front and rear adjustable track bars all from Stan at Northridge (thanks Stan)

Interesting part is OME sells it as a 2" lift................I think them Aussie's are a little mixed up on there measuring

Overall before upping the tires to 35" it is up pretty much bang on 4 inches.  I didn't think a 4 difference in ride height would be that noticeable but it is very much noticeable. I am pretty sure I noticed a difference in ride with the HD springs as well, seems a bit more bouncy. Also it may have been my imagination but it also seemed a bit less stable solid on the road (I could feel it lean a bit more it seemed).  I am very happy at this point but now of course I am jonesing to get the tires on it..............looks a little like a skateboard at the moment :)

Can't wait to get it back on the trail and see how things work compared to before.

Thanks again Jay...............can't wait for the rubber and the winch.

Yup, it'll definitely lean more for sure - higher center of gravity. I think you'll be VERY happy with that lift.

Did you get coil retainers in the rear, and longer sway bar links?

Drive it for a week and let the springs settle. Remeasure. I bet it drops an inch or so.

Dont mind if it settles a bit but hopefully it will not be more than an inch.  That is part of the reason that I went with the HD Coils

Looks Good Shawn. Makes you wonder why they don't just sell it as a 3"-4" lift....

Because Australia has lift laws.

Because they can't get the ride quality to where they demand of their products in that lift range.

They use those Texas inches... and we all know everything is bigger in Texas!  Looks good...

Yes...  Its a Texas thing.

It will settle - all of the OME stuff does.  Its part of the progressive rate they build into the coil.  Great products designed for more abuse than you can imagine.

Fabtech used to be the worst - the SO Cal crowd is alot of high speed whoops, so the coils are always 2-3" higher than labled.

At the shop I used to work at in Texas, I swear we had a berm behind the shop - if customers complained it was too high - we told them to take it at about 20km/hour.  The rapid cycling caused the lift to settle faster. (this is not a recommendation by the way - however please film if you do)

Two wheeling trips and she has settled about a half inch.
