I know I don't post up here often, but as fellow Canadian Jeepers I was hoping you might read this and participate.
Please take two minutes to log into Facebook and go to Jeep Canada's official page. I've posed the question to the marketing team about what happened to Jeep Jamboree Canada and put up some decent arguments as to why it should return.
The more people that post up, the more they'll have to listen. Whether you would attend an event like this for your own enjoyment is irrelevant. Having a company like Chrysler Canada support the lifestyle will do wonders for our hobby's image in the communities and help to keep trails open to us in the future.
Just post anything up. It'll take you two seconds.

AFAIK...
Because someone took it on as a business model. Private business, not Daimler Chrysler.
They charge you $400 and you can go wheeling with other Jeepers who've also paid the $400.
Look at the sponsors, I don't see chrysler or Jeep,

What do you want from Jeep Canada exactly? Someone to organize a wheeling trip? Free food? Free parts?
In your business, how much marketing budget do you spend on the folks who've already purchased your product?

I think you have to look at the business arrangement the old canadian jeep jamboree had and how they pulled out of this country and how they dealt with there partners.
There are 4x4 clubs in Alberta who will not have anything to do with the old jeep jamboree and they now do a simuliar event that is by invite only and is bigger and better then the old jeep jamboree.
And no I am not on face book.

I understand that arguement, but that is why I've taken the discussion to Jeep Canada and not the sub-contractor. Jeep should take the lead on this and help us with some of the politics that keep the sport around.
It's not so much a wheelin trip or an opportunity to get a discount on parts, it's the image that needs to be supported so trails aren't closed off for future generations to use. I'm not sure what it's like around your area or how old you are, but I'm only 32 and even I have memories of trails that are no longer accessed by vehicle because of red tape.
In terms of the marketing question, it's a generally accepted rule that it costs 400-500% more to obtain a new customer as it does to retain one you already have. Supporting your customers after the sale is one of the most important marketing initiatives a company has to take.

Sorry Russ, but I don't see why...
They have marketed the JK to every soccer mom/dad and wanna be off-roader (read I can travel on a gravel road and look cool in my freedom top) and been very successful with out getting in to provincial politics and land use issues. The JK is the new Caravan, only squarer!
Our society has changed into an insurance scary, environmental hodge-podge of money and lobbyists. Why would they get involved?
It would cost mulla... and North America is not out of the woods by any means. They need to protect their bottom line, like all businesses.
Your best bet is too wheel what we got here (while we have it), and get involved in the clubs that support events like ACE in Grande Prairie and PARTICPATE. On that note, the CJA should get more involved in that event! It's 90% jeeps and a fantastic event!

Stephan Harper our Prime Minister of Canada said it best last week.
Over $300 million was spent in Canada in the last ten years by Americans to lobby the goverment on enviromental issues.
We have lost a lot of access to some of our trail systems in the last ten years. Where was Chrysler Canada or Jeep Canada the last ten years and who are they supporting?
American enviromentalist and the enviromental movement can go to hell.

Two southern Alberta multiclub runs were put together in 2010 and one (sort of) in 2011.
It's up to us to pull these activities together - not Chrysler or someone for profit.
More interest will breed more activities - I'm not seeing a lot of internal interest so I'm not going to expect someone external to pull something together. Remember we're a minority - don't believe me - count our numbers (club members) against the population of our respective communities.
Want to plan something for 2012 - set up a multiclub organizing committee - need a volunteer put my name down - I'll be involved.

Chrysler will never advocate to keep trails open or organize events simply because doing so would lose them more customers than it gets them. A Chrysler sponsored event will not get 100 people into a new Jeep they would not have bought otherwise, but it will provide foder for competitors to attack their environmental position and alienate possible clients.
Chrysler is interested is selling the most units possible, as they should be, the number of open trails will never impact their business. You also can't condemn lobbyists for spending money to push an agenda and then turn around and ask that that a company that makes a product you support do the exact same for an activity you support.

Well we all could make a huge amount of noise if we thought about a Western Jam. It might be cool to find a good wheelin spot in the Eastern part of Alberta or even the interior of BC where it would be central to people from all over both Provinces.
I understand that companies wouldn't want to get involved in the BS and that Jeep is successful regardless of whether they act or not. I still think they should pony up on this considering they market the capabilities of the vehicles and every commercial they've ever made has some element to wheelin in it.

The last thing I want to see is an influx of rigs in the McLean and Waiparous areas. What I will do though, is invite you to one of our meetings in the new year. Come for 6 and find me. I will introduce to a bunch of the fellow jeepers and they can tell you stories about closures, old jamborees, and the issues facing 4x4 clubs. And then come wheeling with us. Get involved. There are great opportunities to go to events like the old sponsored jamborees to wheel and camp and have a good time with people all over BC, Alberta and Sask.

i loved jeep jamborees. They used to run one in Bobcaygoen, Ont. i never went as we CONSIDERED THEM 'OUR' TRAILS AND CAMPED THE SAME WEEKEND IN OUR 'NORMAL' SPOT AND WHEELED FOR FREE. bUT I LOVED THEM AS THEY ALLOWED ME TO USE IT AS A WARRANTY ARGUEMENT TO THE TUNE OF $20,000 OVER THE LIFE OF MY NEW tj.

Speaking from experience of being involved with the past jamborees, it is not just about get sponsorship from Jeep / Chrysler but also getting the permission from the local government (ASRD) to run such an event as they could have all the funding in the world but if the government says no, you are screwed.
I definitely think there were flaws in the last business model for the jamborees and improvements definitely could have been made. However, I would LOVE it if they came back. I learned how to wheel my jeep at the jamborees and Jeep 101. The clubs that ran the Apex and Rocky jamborees did an AMAZING job

This is the type of group that would help get it together, and might go as spotters or volunteers, but I know none of us would actually pay all that money. This is directed more at newbs that won't go to something like this unless it was an actual Chrysler event....Sort of like BMW guys with their track days.
Nobody wants a million people knowing about their "private" trails, but that's the attitude that helps get those trails shut down when there aren't enough users to make a difference in those decisions.
I do plan to try and get to an event of yours if timing works out. I'm pretty involved with my local club www.bcjeepclub.ca, but like I said in another post my new job will bring me out your way a few times a year so it would be great to meet the Alberta club.
