I might be down. I need to bust this Rubi's cherry.
Where are you planning to go? Where / when are you planning to meet?

Meet at Smittys in Cochrane at 8am. Then you can drool over all of the JKs going on the Alberta JK run...
In all seriousness, I am going to show-up at Smittys at 8am to hook-up with Alberta JK run. But, if I don't feel comfortable with them since I have never wheeled with them if you guys are around I might jump ship to your run. I know I can trust Jamal to get his rig stuck so that I have to pull it out...

So are all the JKs going to be there too. This might make for a pretty interesting day out there

Just go straight instead of turning right at the pits, you wont see another minivan past that.
-
Someone should stop by the car wash in cockring before they hit Smittys, I want a pic of all the JKs gettin cleaned up before they hit Smittys ;-)

Gonna look very similar to the first post in this - http://forum.calgaryjeep.com/index.php?topic=21414.msg130482#msg130482

I have no idea what those JK folks are like, but given the size of the run and the low requirements I'd imagine we will have a more interesting time moving in a smaller group. Jeff you are certainly more than welcome to join our group if you feel like it.
Meet at Smitty's at 8:00, witness the herd of JK's and roll out by 9am.
I'd like to see some more participation in this run. Don't any of the people with the apparent REAL JEEPS like to go wheeling anymore?

most of my wheelin is done weekdays after 5pm and before midnight. If I get out on weekends itll be down by oldman . Work just dont let me play with the local Jeeps to often. And... its winter...EVERYTHING takes a backseat to boardin.

I'll be there :)
-
Sounds good Jamal.
If you need more rigs when we meet at Smittys I will happily join you guys. Just signed up for the JK run first because there was not another open run available until your post. I just want to go wheelin.
See you all Saturday at 8am.
-
hope there is some more xj coming otu this weekend i dont want to be the only xj come on guys
-
So,
What's the scoop on this run?
Is it on for sure? If so, who is in?
I will be at Smitty's in Cochrane at about 8am to meet up with the JK Owners group. But, if you guys are there I will wheel with you because I know you guys have the experience. In reading the JK Owners website the leader admits he is a newbie (no offense, I'm a newbie too but, that is why I don't volunteer to lead). Also, Jeep Girl who originally posted this run on our forum has pulled out. So, it seems only Anton and I are considering the JK run from this forum.
Thanks,
Jeff

Looks like the weather will be pretty good too.
Jeff

I'm still in :)
I plan to show up about 7 for breaky
-
Slewfoot,
Based on Jamal's post above, I think we are to meet at 8 for breakfast and 'roll-out at 9'.
So, arriving at 7 may be a bit early unless you want to drink a lot of coffee... ;D
Jeff
-
Yeah I will be there at 8 for breakfast.
-
OK well i am with Jeff on this, i don't really want to be leaded by a new guys when i am new, i know most of you guys so i am in, i wish i could go with the Jk's but i prefer to go out with people that know me and i know them. I AM IN!
Anton
-
I am in for sure. be there at 8.
-
We ended up booking a last-minute vacay so I won't be wheeling tomorrow... too much to get done before we leave next week. I may show up to have breakfast though...

Yuppers Jeff - I got that. I also got that there will be a boatload of JKs at the same trough at the same time.
For a small fee I'll hold a seat for you :P and the seat in my jeep reclines for that post-breaky nap :)
-
No problem slew,
From the looks of the JK forum, only about 8 are semi-confirmed for their run tomorrow (including Anton who is coming back to the dark side to be with us).
But, a nap after breakfast is always a good thing...
See you there,
Jeff
-
Umm can I take that passenger seat darren. I live for post breaky naps:)
-
Have a good trip see you guys maybe on the next one :)

Great run, thanks to all the came out. I think everyone got the adrenaline going at some point during the day.
Sorry I took off in a rush, I was pre-occupied with the screaming death of my pilot bearing. I hope you guys had no problems pulling out that explorer and truck.
-
Sorry I had to bail boys. I'm flying east tomorrow and need to get packed
-
Jamal,
Great run! Going to need some more work to my rig (alignment and something up with abs).
Anton and I went and got the Explorer out that was in at least a foot of snow in a ditch on the wrong side of the road. Then we went and looked at the 2500. It was at least a foot deep in snow at the bottom of a short but steep hill. The bonehead we went to save wound up Anton's winch wrong from the Explorer recovery. So, the wire was screwed up so that we couldn't get it to work. Then when we told this guy we couldn't pull out his 3/4 tonne truck at the bottom of this hill in 'sugar'snow he freaked out on us. Serious jerk! So, Anton and I packed up and left. He had two familys out with him in 2500, and 1500 trucks and a stock Explorer all with basic AT tires and he was trying to go up a steep hill with a foot of snow with 3 inches of crust on it. When we asked him what he thought he was doing trying to do this he said he did it all the time when hunting. What a joke! This guy was a complete idiot!
Anton and I stopped at BPs for some nachos and I just got home 10 minutes ago (10pm).
Take care,
Jeff

Fack em !
Play stupid games and you win stupid prizes
-
Well said Sir!
-
If anyone has a location of this truck please pm me.
I don't like to see people left in the woods.... For more then 24 hours :)
-
Jeff you forgot few things
1. He was lying to us about how bad the trucks where stuck!
2. And when we said we can't pull him out he started swearing like we never helped him. I cant believe this guy. On othere note i wish we would have pulled that guy out of that spot but we did not have the right power to do it. And for the locatation it wa 2 dark for me to remember. Only things o remember was when we came out of 4 corners and stoped just befor the gravel road we took a left up the hill, it was about 5-6 min drive doing 30-40K/H. then there was a big open area on the left and you could see the trail srats when you drive in there.
3. About the winch, that is my own fault, i should have done it my self when we where finished with the first SUV, i let some one else that i don't know play with my rig! i learn from mistakes i would not let that happen again.
Anton.
P.S the run was great, Jamal did a great job on the run, Well all came out in one piece. looks like we all have some minor things to fix after few of this hills we climbed. I hope Jamals clutch is going to be an easy fix!
Any one wants some vids or pics send me you emails and i will send them all.

I knew that dipstick was a scummy dishonest loser. Thats why I didnt offer to help him. He kept trying to get me to go in my jeep with no winch and pull him... I kept sayin no. Pretty sure he was high on barbiturates too.
sorry guys, but you did do a good thing. I have had my share of helping strangers out in the woods and breakin my jeep over it too, i know when someone is feeding me BS, and he stunk to high heaven. FTS.
** not saying that I have not been on the receiving end.. There have been a few times where I have been in serious trouble and the aid of strangers and friends (and the club) was my only saving grace. It is indeed almost mandatory to help someone to the best of your ability if they are in serious trouble. However that guy had family out there with him. They all had a good way out. And I had / have a serious feeling that guy was up to no good and was most likely breaking the law. Just a sketch bag. You know there is no way that guy would have helped one of us out unless it was a ride to the road or staging area and only if thats where he was going at the time. ** / end mod
-
I agree with you!!! well said.
Last thing, Jeff Thank you for staying with me and did your best to help me out.
Thank you all guys for all the knowledge and help with my Jeep[, the sway bar, the tire chains and with the winch!!! the king one did really good for her first time!! Just remember, if any one need help i would be more then happy to do my best!
I am trying to up load the vids and some Pocs on photo bucket. when it is done i will post a link. the vids are too big to send via email.

Frenchy,
I agree, you don't leave anyone stuck out in the woods for even 24 hours no matter how much of a jerk they are. But, we didn't leave them stuck out there. When we packed up and left the Explorer and half-ton pick-up truck were not stuck and were capable of carrying their entire party out if they so chose to leave. I even told the driver of the Explorer to get everyone out then and leave the truck until today to get out with the necessary equipment. After that, it is up to an adult to be able to make their own decision. I just hope they got the kids out ok. But, there was nothing Anton or I could do about that short of kidnapping...
Hopefully, they are all safe today and have learned a valuable lessson.
Jeff
-
No problem Anton. Glad I could help.
I never leave someone on my team behind! And, I know when to follow to watch someones back (which is why I insisted on two of us going to see how we could help these people out)! I too didn't have a good feeling about this guy but, I was taught to help where possible; which we did. And, I only leave others behind if I have no other choice such as in this case. You can lead a horse to water but you can't éven do that for sentioned beings thast refuse to listen to common sense...
I have no regrets. We did everything in our power to help these people.
Jeff
-
You guys made the right decision. Nobody was left out in the woods. If they had a ride back to town, it's good of you guys to try to help out...and smart of you guys not to beat your rigs to rat-poop just because someone else was an idiot.

Here is the ling to the vids and some pics.
