I knew that dipstick was a scummy dishonest loser. Thats why I didnt offer to help him. He kept trying to get me to go in my jeep with no winch and pull him... I kept sayin no. Pretty sure he was high on barbiturates too.

sorry guys, but you did do a good thing. I have had my share of helping strangers out in the woods and breakin my jeep over it too, i know when someone is feeding me BS, and he stunk to high heaven. FTS.

** not saying that I have not been on the receiving end.. There have been a few times where I have been in serious trouble and the aid of strangers and friends (and the club) was my only saving grace. It is indeed almost mandatory to help someone to the best of your ability if they are in serious trouble. However that guy had family out there with him. They all had a good way out. And I had / have a serious feeling that guy was up to no good and was most likely breaking the law. Just a sketch bag. You know there is no way that guy would have helped one of us out unless it was a ride to the road or staging area and only if thats where he was going at the time. ** / end mod

Frenchy,

I agree, you don't leave anyone stuck out in the woods for even 24 hours no matter how much of a jerk they are. But, we didn't leave them stuck out there. When we packed up and left the Explorer and half-ton pick-up truck were not stuck and were capable of carrying their entire party out if they so chose to leave. I even told the driver of the Explorer to get everyone out then and leave the truck until today to get out with the necessary equipment. After that, it is up to an adult to be able to make their own decision. I just hope they got the kids out ok. But, there was nothing Anton or I could do about that short of kidnapping...

Hopefully, they are all safe today and have learned a valuable lessson.

No problem Anton.  Glad I could help.

I never leave someone on my team behind! And, I know when to follow to watch someones back (which is why I insisted on two of us going to see how we could help these people out)! I too didn't have a good feeling about this guy but, I was taught to help where possible; which we did. And, I only leave others behind if I have no other choice such as in this case. You can lead a horse to water but you can't éven do that for sentioned beings thast refuse to listen to common sense...

I have no regrets. We did everything in our power to help these people.

Jeff

You guys made the right decision. Nobody was left out in the woods. If they had a ride back to town, it's good of you guys to try to help out...and smart of you guys not to beat your rigs to rat-poop just because someone else was an idiot.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(
