I'm looking for a place that sells HVAC surplus parts. Specifically, I want a 115 V furnace blower fan and squirrel cage to hack into a garage exhaust setup because I'm sick of having black snot after a welding night.
Shockingly, anything on Kijiji is usually overpriced garbage, and I'm not really interested in buying new.
Any ideas?

Perhaps PM immortal. Hes a plumber, or hvac tech or something to do with that ;)
He may know :)

princess auto has a lot of surplus fans. another option ive seen done is a range hood fan over your workbench. has lights to

Could try habitat for humanity... You know... That store that the homeless people sell there stolen crap from construction sites too.
-
Simon's right. There's a plumber here on the board that also installs the occasional pedestal fan that can help you out with this.
Pro-tip: He will probably accept payment in beer, cigars, or XJ parts.

I'm a hvac worker I will ask my boss for you

Cool, thanks.

Yeah, I've thought about this, but my welding table is on wheels, so it wouldn't really work in my case. I think it's a really neat idea for a static welding bench, though.

I haven't been there in awhile, but I don't remember seeing parts like this last time I wandered around HFH. I'll check it out.

Fans and Motors. 12th ST just north of 32 AVE.... west side of 12th. Dude's name is Jeff. He will have blower housings and fans and motors.

You're kinda fucked, then, aren't ya?

Very angry for a plumber, aren't ya?

Seriously though. If kijiji stuff is overpriced junk, and he doesn't want to buy new.....
Todd, the A/C at your house won't be working this year.
-
Perhaps PM wsquared this summer. Apparently he may have some parts for sale for a system that is too expensive to repair. Also, should you ever need a plumber, immortals your man.
-
Hey Simon,
My TV crapped out on me. I need you to repair it. Willing to pay you in pocket lint, and a bucket full of sarcasm.

Hey, man, you can be as snarky as you want here, but I'm not paying $150 for a blower that's advertised as "nearly new!!!!111" but hasn't actually been nearly new since 2005. I'm also not really interested in throwing a couple hundred bucks at an actually new blower for my garage when a throw-away from a scrapped furnace would do just fine. I can't speak for you, but I certainly can't afford to waste money like that even if I was willing.
But, I appreciate your advice about the place on 12th. I will look into it and also contact some furnace replacement operations to see if they're willing to sell parts from the furnaces that they replace.

So a used fan for half price is seriously overpriced? Sounds like you want a new fan for dirt cheap/free. The way I see it is kijiji crap and used crap from a surplus store is still going to be a gamble, if you don't want the gamble stop complaining and go buy new.
You can't really get mad at Trevor for getting upset either. He's a nice guy but I'm sure he's pretty busy and doesn't really want to spend half a day at a strangers garage for $15 of lucky lager.
-
I used an old jeep cherokee fan for a little while, worked not too bad.
Lots at pick n pull ;D
-
Not being snarky at all. If you don't want to spend the coin on something that is new, that's your choice. If you don't want to spend half price of new, but take the gamble, again, your choice.
Other than the stuff at PA (I don't trust that crap), Kijiji (roll the dice), or going new (it works, with a warranty!!), your options are really limited.
A better way would have been saying.... "I'm looking for a place that sells HVAC surplus parts. Specifically, I want a 115 V furnace blower fan and squirrel cage to hack into a garage exhaust setup. I am looking at spending $0.02. Can anyone point me in the right direction?"
$150 for a blower IS over priced, but I am sure that if it was on kijiji, there would be some wiggle room.
$150 will get you a whole BRAND NEW motor/housing/fan.
Food for thought.

That actually not a half bad idea.

Fans and motors will be closed as of may. Try sopers supply instead. Ask for Renee, he is actually a member here on the forum.
Call any old residential HVAC company and look for an old furnace.
And Trev ain't a plumber guys.

Did you get a blower yet? I have one from my old furnace... I do hvac as well and kept the blower when I did my furnace swap... it has a used motor on it and works well... I've used it for ventilation in my garage as well... pm me if you want to look at it

hey lets resurrect an old thread..
I need a 440 Volt, dual 40/5 mfd round motor run capacitor for my central air, as mine is puffed.
Of course, local HVAC place won't sell to me because I don't have a ticket to purchase such things. Anyone have a solution other than ordering online from far-far-far away?

Talk nicely to Black Betty or myself....
Canadian Tire doesn't have one?
-
I am totally ready to talk nice. Wife is about to go nuts.
-
I do refrigeration and AC as well so could get you one sometime...
